Everyone has that one decision, that one moment in their lives that they think back to from time to time and wonder what could have been if they had made a different choice a different decision. A point in time they wish they could go back to. After saving a stranger, Laila has been offered a chance to do just that. Laila has nothing she could want from an outsiders perspective. She lives in a big mansion, with a handsome husband and two beautiful children but in reality her life is far from perfect and she couldn't remember the last time she was truly happy. So, if she was offered a chance to change that, shouldn't she take it? How crazy and unbelievable that chance might seem? This story is indeed in a way a rebirth story but it isn't your typical rebirth story. It is one where the second male lead actually gets the girl. Join me in the first week of May as we start this story of how a single decision can determine a lifetime or change it! Until then, feel free to look at my just completed novel A devil's match :D

The cause of all his problems

Harold was finally being allowed to see his nephew. He was following the officer to what seemed like an interrogation room, which apparently also served as a room where people who had been detained, could talk to a lawyer or family member. Harold entered the room, which could only be opened on one side and started pacing back and forth as the officer went to grab his nephew. When the nephew walked in the room a few seconds after Harold had been brought there, he immediately became emotional. Turning the large man into what he really was, a young boy in trouble that was far bigger than he could manage on his own.

He called out in a somewhat broken voice, "Uncle Harold, you're finally here. What took you so long? I had to sleep in a cell with a bunch of criminals! I couldn't close my eyes for even a second and stayed up all night thinking that you would come and get me out."

Harold put his arm around the boy and said, "I know son, I know. I'm sorry. I tried. They wouldn't let me see you nor would they tell me why they were holding you here. I have been at the police station all night, waiting for the second I could see you. Tell me what happened. Your mother is worried sick over you. Is it because of what I think it is?"

The nephew nodded and replied, "They said that they have two different acts on the warrant for my arrest. The first act is that I invaded his privacy by taking those pictures and that taking unauthorised pictures is considered a crime here. And the second one is that I had threatened or blackmailed him with those pictures somehow, which is a criminal offence as well. I don't understand, I never used those pictures for anything. I only showed them to that associate of yours. How did this already turn into me committing a crime worthy of being arrested."

With each word the nephew said, Harold's eyes narrowed further and further. It was clear that he was very angry and would not let go of this matter easily. He calmed down his nephew and assured him that things would be taken care of. "Don't worry son. I will call him and make him drop these charges. If he doesn't comply, he will have to learn the hard way that you don't mess with Harold Richardson's family. I have already had my men pay that pesky man a visit and put some things in place. If he doesn't drop the charges willingly, I will make sure that that he won't be able to bother you any longer after today. So, if he is a smart man, he'll reconsider these petty charges that have no basis. For now just calm down, be strong and sit tight. I have the best lawyers money can buy on the case. I'm sure they can find a way to get you an emergency hearing and released on bail at the very least."

With his uncles words, the nephew's confidence returned. He even managed to smile as he said, "Yeah. I'll be fine. I can manage it for a few more hours. Knowing that you are fighting for me, I can even stick it out for a few days. Just don't make me wait too long...Please..." Harold patted the side of his nephew's face and smiled at him before he said, "I won't. Trust me. You'll be out before you know it and this will all just be a bad dream. Go and get some sleep, you look haggard. Don't let your mother see you like this. She'll become even more worried than she already is." The nephew nodded once more and after Harold heard him say, "I will", he nodded on the door to be let out.

As soon as Harold had walked out of the interrogation room/visiting room, he immediately headed for the exit with the same heated steps as when he first walked in. When he got in the car, he drove away in a high speed as he started calling the person who he saw as the cause of all his problems, including this one. Noah, who had witnessed his angry walk-out, knew that he had heard what the reason for his nephew's detainment was and that Harold would be coming after him now. So, when he was notified that one of the phones at the reception had started ringing, Noah was far from surprised and had a pretty good idea who it could be.

Since the company was still closed, there was no one to answer the phone downstairs. But this being the modern and advanced company that it was, they had different things in place to allow you to forward any call to any location from any location. This was something that they could do because of their advanced operating system, which had also allowed them to see there was a call in the first place. When there are still people in the office logged into the system after closing, calls made to the general number, are shown in the operating system dashboard. Where you can choose to let the voicemail get it, answer it or forward it to a different device within the company. While the notifications were silent for the main staff, it was forwarded as an audible call to the security, who were given the same three choices for the call.

This particular call was noticed by one of the people of the team, who happened to be working on something that required him to be on the system. He notified Noah of the call, since he too had a feeling it was related to what they had witnessed and participated in today. To which Noah replied, "Put the call through on this phone. I'll answer it." With anxious stares and shallowed breaths everyone watched as Noah picked up the call in the fully silent office building.
