A decision to change a lifetime

Everyone has that one decision, that one moment in their lives that they think back to from time to time and wonder what could have been if they had made a different choice a different decision. A point in time they wish they could go back to. After saving a stranger, Laila has been offered a chance to do just that. Laila has nothing she could want from an outsiders perspective. She lives in a big mansion, with a handsome husband and two beautiful children but in reality her life is far from perfect and she couldn't remember the last time she was truly happy. So, if she was offered a chance to change that, shouldn't she take it? How crazy and unbelievable that chance might seem? This story is indeed in a way a rebirth story but it isn't your typical rebirth story. It is one where the second male lead actually gets the girl. So, if you have ever screamed at your screen over yet another female lead picking the horrible first male lead over the second just because he has realized the error of his ways and therefore all he has done in the past should be forgiven and forgotten, well then search no farther as this is the story for you! Join me in the first week of May as we start this story of how a single decision can determine a lifetime or change it! Until then, feel free to look at my just completed novel A devil's match :D

Incur his wrath

After Noah changed the topic from his talk with Max to her talk with her former employer, Beverly, the roles in the conversation had shifted. They had shifted from him talking and Laila listening, to him now being assigned the part of the listener.

Laila told him about how Beverly, her former employer, had clasped her hands in joy when she saw Laila. How she put her hands on her belly as she felt that it had visibly grown since she had last seen Laila, even though that was hardly possible considering how little time had passed since then and now. How Beverly was amazed and turned speechless when she saw the logo and the product of her labor. Being unable to believe that Laila had been able to put this together in such a short amount of time and while being pregnant. She then inquired about Noah and wanted to know if he was okay, because she too had seen the news and had become quite worried after discovering that the company was none other than the one where her husband worked. The way she phrased it, proved that like many others, she too was unaware that Noah didn't just work there, but co-owned and co-founded the company.

With a chuckle she said, "I am still amazed that you and Steve have managed to hide your role in the company for so long." Before adding, "I truly wonder how many people are actually aware that you aren't just a high level employee at I.E.." Noah shrugged his shoulders and said, "I'm not too sure. Steve has been with me from the very beginning and he has been the face of the company from the moment things started to really take off. There are plenty of people inside the company who know, but outside of the company we try to keep it hidden. Of course people who have been with us longer and knew us from before we were really successful, they know as well, but who knows. They might have forgotten as I am out of the lime light for quite some time and contact with customers hardly ever goes through me."

Laila shook her head and was truly amazed. After chatting some more, they ended the call and each went on to continue with what they had planned for the day. For Laila it was doing some more fabric shopping and visiting Laila, while Noah had files and contracts to go through.

Almost at that exact same time, Harold was brought back to the precinct to have his transfer processed and get his things. While Harold being behind bars makes it hard for him to act without being caught, it also provides him with the perfect alibi. He can order an attack, but he certainly can't carry it out himself. This is why in a way, now is the perfect time for him to get even with Olivia, even if the risks are high.

When he entered the police station, he asked to be brought to the bathroom. While an officer accompanied him to the men's bathroom, Harold exchanged a glance with one of his goons, who knew exactly what to do. As Harold unfolded the letter he had been slipped as quietly as he could in the bathroom stall, one of the others requested to call his lawyer. The man mumbled something in a few short words, before ending the call. Earning him a look of confused suspicion from both the officer nearby as well as from some of the other people being held at that precinct. Including Olivia and her father.

When the man noticed Olivia's eyes, he gave her a creepy smile, which sent shivers down her spine. Olivia knew that the man's look meant that he was up to no good and that something bad might be headed her way. Olivia's gut feeling was right, because at that very moment, on the back of the letter with the list of Olivia's crimes against him, Harold was writing instructions for an attack on her scheduled for the day after tomorrow. He folded the paper back up and hid it behind the water tank of the toilet, along with the pen which had already been hidden there by previous people who had been brought into this precinct.

While Harold was guided back from the bathroom, he shot Olivia a glare, which made her even more certain that she had done something to incur his wrath. Although she knew she had done plenty that could anger Harold, she didn't know what he had discovered, which made it difficult for her to apologize for fear that she might disclose something he hadn't discovered (yet). While contemplating what would put her more in danger, potentially spilling the beans on an act of betrayal Harold had not discovered yet, or not attempting to apologize for what he already had discovered, she sat frozen in her cell. Eyes widened and restless, heart beating out of her chest and rapid breathing.

Her father had noticed the change in her state of wellbeing and rushed to her side, and while being separated by a row of iron bars, he asked her repeatedly, "Olivia, honey, what's wrong? Why did you suddenly become so pale? Talk to me sweetheart! You are dripping with sweat. Officer! Please help my daughter. Something is wrong."

Two chapters for now and a third on its way tomorrow and if all goes well, even a fourth.
