A decision to change a lifetime

Everyone has that one decision, that one moment in their lives that they think back to from time to time and wonder what could have been if they had made a different choice a different decision. A point in time they wish they could go back to. After saving a stranger, Laila has been offered a chance to do just that. Laila has nothing she could want from an outsiders perspective. She lives in a big mansion, with a handsome husband and two beautiful children but in reality her life is far from perfect and she couldn't remember the last time she was truly happy. So, if she was offered a chance to change that, shouldn't she take it? How crazy and unbelievable that chance might seem? This story is indeed in a way a rebirth story but it isn't your typical rebirth story. It is one where the second male lead actually gets the girl. So, if you have ever screamed at your screen over yet another female lead picking the horrible first male lead over the second just because he has realized the error of his ways and therefore all he has done in the past should be forgiven and forgotten, well then search no farther as this is the story for you! Join me in the first week of May as we start this story of how a single decision can determine a lifetime or change it! Until then, feel free to look at my just completed novel A devil's match :D

Gullibleness

This all changed the moment Rebecca went to the bathroom. It was apparent that Veronica had been waiting for this moment. She had kept ordering drink after drink for her, while barely drinking anything herself. When Rebecca finally got up to pee, Veronica quickly changed her seat for the one Rebecca had been sitting on. Removing herself from the spot across the table, to the place right next to Anthony. This did not go by unnoticed by Anthony, but apparently didn't cause any suspicion either. Because when he asked her why she changed her seat, he immediately accepted her answer of wanting to see the room from a different view. A reply the rest of the friends didn't accept as the truth at all, causing them to roll their eyes at the level of gullibleness that Anthony was displaying and telling Veronica that she should knock it out.

After some confused stares from Anthony, and Veronica's perfuse denial of doing something wrong, the others decided to let it go and let the people involved handle it. If the two of them didn't consider it a problem, they as the uninvolved party, shouldn't create one. Veronica even went as far as saying, "Why are all of you being so mean. I am just taking a seat next to a friend I haven't seen in a long time. What is wrong with that? " This victimized talking made Anthony defend her, telling his other friends, "It's okay you guys. It is just a seat. I am sure she will leave for her own seat in a bit and Rebecca is off to the bathroom now anyways, so it isn't like she can sit there." Veronica showed the men a smug smile before taking things a step further and wrapping herself around Anthony's arm as she said, "Thank you Anthony. I knew I could count on you to set these bullies straight. They are all treating me like a villain. You are the only one who sees me for who I truly am."

To which one of the other guys replied, "A delusional actor?" This caused the others to chuckle, while Veronica balled her fists and glared at him. This however didn't stop the man from adding, "I am surprised that you didn't end your words with 'And, scene'. That is how convincing your words sounded. If I didn't know you, I would have actually believed that little play of yours." Anthony looked over at Veronica at this point as he said, "Ah stop it you guys. That isn't true, right?" This forced Veronica to quickly get rid of her deathly glare and she slapped on a smile before she let out an airy laugh. As she showed Anthony a smile, her hand reached over to the man who had made the remarks behind Anthony's back and she pinched him hard as she said, "Ah Larry, you are so funny. You and your jokes."

By the time Larry yelled 'Auch' and started rubbing his arm, Veronica's hand was back by her side, looking as innocent as she did herself, while the other was wrapped around Anthony's arm. At this time Rebecca had returned from the bathroom and witnessed this scene. She was glued to the ground, and could hardly believe what she was seeing and felt completely lost as to what she should do. Seeing Veronica's arms wrapped around Anthony in a way she hadn't even held him, seeing her stick so close to him and laughing in the fake way that she did.

Now that it was no longer just words, and Veronica was this dismissive of her that she could act like this in front of her right off the bat, all her insecurities seemed to be rushing back. Making her feel oh so small. It made her feel sick to her stomach and she was about to just walk away, when Anthony noticed her. Again his face lit up as he showed her one of his beaming smiles and raised his arm up to wave her back. Seeing that, seeing that unwavering light in his eyes that was filled with nothing else but love for her, made her calm down a bit and gave her the courage to walk back to the table.

But her battle wasn't over yet and Veronica wasn't willing to give up without a fight. When the others commented that Veronica should return to her seat now that Rebecca had returned, she refused and said, "Why? Rebecca doesn't mind sitting in my seat for a bit, right? After all, Anthony and I were just starting to have fun and it isn't fair for you to be hogging him all evening. Besides, nobody likes a clingy girlfriend." Rebecca didn't know how to reply to this and had clearly reached her limit, as she just turned around and made her way to the exit. Shocking everyone, except Veronica, who seemed quite pleased with what she had done, showing a smug smile to complete the look.
