A decision to change a lifetime

Everyone has that one decision, that one moment in their lives that they think back to from time to time and wonder what could have been if they had made a different choice a different decision. A point in time they wish they could go back to. After saving a stranger, Laila has been offered a chance to do just that. Laila has nothing she could want from an outsiders perspective. She lives in a big mansion, with a handsome husband and two beautiful children but in reality her life is far from perfect and she couldn't remember the last time she was truly happy. So, if she was offered a chance to change that, shouldn't she take it? How crazy and unbelievable that chance might seem? This story is indeed in a way a rebirth story but it isn't your typical rebirth story. It is one where the second male lead actually gets the girl. So, if you have ever screamed at your screen over yet another female lead picking the horrible first male lead over the second just because he has realized the error of his ways and therefore all he has done in the past should be forgiven and forgotten, well then search no farther as this is the story for you! Join me in the first week of May as we start this story of how a single decision can determine a lifetime or change it! Until then, feel free to look at my just completed novel A devil's match :D

Development

Since there had been such big developments on Noah's side, Laila had of course become quite curious about how the situation would progress. She could not wrap her head around why a fugitive, who knows that all his personal business is being aired on national TV, would think to stop at a gas station in the middle of his escape. It was such a big risk to take. Why not drive a bit further until you actually cross the border and the odds are higher that no one knows of your crimes yet? What could have possibly been so important?

So, Laila was now calling Noah to see if there was any new information yet. Questions had been racing through her mind and more were being added by the second from the moment he had told her that Harold had been caught until now, the time until which she had contained herself from calling Noah. She wanted to know if he had gone to the station yet and what the officers had said. She also wanted to know what they were doing right now and if he had heard anything from Max yet? Had he managed to catch Andrew and James? What about the bodyguard and his hunt for the other henchman? Had been been successful? And then of course there was Olivia. She needed to know if there was anything that she or Maria needed to do with regards to Olivia. All of which questions that Noah would hopefully have the answer to.

Laila had not yet told Steve and Maria about this development, despite Maria's prying to there being any news from Noah. She had wanted to wait until she knew more and could give them a proper report instead of telling them one fact and letting them be overflowed with questions like she had been when she found out. So, finding out a bit more herself, seemed like the logical thing to do. After she had spoken with Noah, she would fill them both in.

Just like the day before, Laila stood in the hallway, leaning against one of the white walls, and called Noah. In just two rings Noah answered her call with the words, "Good morning honey." in smooth, calm voice. Laila returned his 'good morning' and asked, "Did I call at a bad time? Can you talk right now?" Noah told her that it wasn't and that he could, giving Laila all that she needed to hear to continue their conversation.

She began by asking the usual questions, questions anyone would ask after being away from their partner for a day. She asked, "Did you sleep well last night?" Noah confirmed that he did and he asked Laila the same, to which she replied that she had slept well considering the circumstances, with the circumstances being her pregnancy as well as Noah's lacking presence in their bed. Noah understood what she meant and gave an understanding 'mm-mm' before saying, "I am glad that you were able to get at least some sleep. I was worried you wouldn't be able to fall asleep without me there or be woken up by your own restlessness."

After asking the basic questions and knowing that both were doing okay, Noah asked, "So, what did you call me for?" Laila couldn't believe that a man so sync with her on a day to day basis would ask her that question and an unintended snippy, sarcastic comment left her lips. "What do you think?? To ask whether the sky is blue over there as well. Of course I want to know about Harold silly!"

Noah chuckled, not feeling hurt or offended at all by Laila's chosen words or tone. He of course knew why she had called and was impressed that Laila had managed to curb her curiosity for as long as she had. He had expected at least a message first thing in the morning. Unfortunately he didn't have much news for her regarding that matter. "Well, I am not sure what to tell you. I am currently at the police station, waiting for someone who can tell us more about the situation. Until I see him myself, I can't be sure that it is really him as the way he got caught seems a bit too easy to be true. But it seems that they aren't willing to let any information go or allow us to see Harold until someone higher up the ladder gets involved. So, we are waiting for her boss to show up and get the information we need."

Laila was a bit disappointed but she imagined that Noah must be feeling that way even more so. Going through all that effort, spending so much time and resources, only for Harold to be caught before a confrontation could even take place, and then to be denied any information or proper confirmation. Since she wouldn't be finding out much more about Harold, she decided to ask if he had received any updates from the others. "Have you heard anything from Anthony or Max?"

"Well, it is funny you should say that, because Anthony sent me a message just now saying that he wants to call me. Can I call you right back?" Laila was a bit confused for a second as this had caught her off guard but she quickly said, "Uh, yes, of course." Noah thanked her and quickly said goodbye before he ended their call and called Anthony back to see what he had to say.
