A decision to change a lifetime

Everyone has that one decision, that one moment in their lives that they think back to from time to time and wonder what could have been if they had made a different choice a different decision. A point in time they wish they could go back to. After saving a stranger, Laila has been offered a chance to do just that. Laila has nothing she could want from an outsiders perspective. She lives in a big mansion, with a handsome husband and two beautiful children but in reality her life is far from perfect and she couldn't remember the last time she was truly happy. So, if she was offered a chance to change that, shouldn't she take it? How crazy and unbelievable that chance might seem? This story is indeed in a way a rebirth story but it isn't your typical rebirth story. It is one where the second male lead actually gets the girl. So, if you have ever screamed at your screen over yet another female lead picking the horrible first male lead over the second just because he has realized the error of his ways and therefore all he has done in the past should be forgiven and forgotten, well then search no farther as this is the story for you! Join me in the first week of May as we start this story of how a single decision can determine a lifetime or change it! Until then, feel free to look at my just completed novel A devil's match :D

Desire for war

Laila had just shifted from resting her eyes to dozing off into a nap, when Gretchen returned with her requested smoothie and called out to her. "Miss. Miss Laila. I have your smoothie here." With heavy eyelids, Laila opened her eyes again and grabbed the tall glass from Gretchen's hand. "Thank you Gretchen." Gretchen bowed lightly before heading out of the room to continue doing what she had come downstairs to do.

Fighting the tiredness from her lack of sleep, Laila took her first sip from the green coloured drink with slow movements. When the mixture of vegetables, fruits, oatmeal and nuts, touched her tongue, Laila's eyes widened in surprise. Despite her being nauseous, the smoothie the kitchen had prepared had such a refreshing taste, that she liked it even in this state. With more energy than before, Laila took another sip. This time a larger one and she let the taste drown out the feelings of nausea. With each sip, Laila felt herself become more awake and feel a bit better in general. She noticed faint tastes of passion fruit, oranges and imagined the smooth, creamy texture was from avocadoes and bananas. The ground up nuts gave it a bit of a bite and there was even some ginger in there for her stomach. Making this drink go down quite easily.

Another thirty minutes had passed since Laila had come down for breakfast. She was just taking her last sip from the large glass that seemed to be without a bottom, when one of the staff members came to inform her that the car was ready to take her to the airport. Laila quickly swallowed what was in her mouth and got up from the sofa. She was feeling a lot better than when she first woke up this morning and from then on the vacation feeling took over and she started getting more and more excited.

Another hour later Laila found herself past the customs line. Her suitcase had been checked in, lightening her load and she had taken a seat at one of the cafe's in the airport. With a steaming cup of tea and a piece of cake, that looked the most appealing to her when she stood in line to order her tea, in front of her, Laila was typing her first message of the day to Noah.

"Good morning my dear husband! I hope you slept well despite not sleeping next to me in our bed. I wanted to let you know that I have arrived at the airport and have passed through customs. I am enjoying a cup of tea and some cake." After that message she sent a picture of the treat before her with the caption, "Watch it and weep! PS: Don't worry, I had a healthy breakfast before this. ;)" Laila had an amused smile on her face as she sent this teasing message to her husband in the early morning. It was only nine-thirty and Laila had no problem with this type of bullying at the start of his workday.. In fact, she was already looking forward to his reply, which couldn't come soon enough if it were up to her.

Fortunately for her, Noah had the same sense of humour and was equally excited to get back at his wife's 'loving' message. He had already been hard at work for two hours when Laila's message arrived. Instantly a smile appeared on his face when he saw that she had sent him a message and he chuckled as soon as he saw what her messages actually said. But although Laila was waiting for a reply from him in message form, Noah had a different plan in mind. With a smirk on his face, he pressed the videocall button. In his mind he imagined Laila's reaction to his sudden call while he waited for her to answer.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Laila's reaction was of course that of shock. She felt startled when her phone suddenly started to ring and she saw that Noah was trying to start a videocall with her. She almost dropped her phone in her cake from the suddenness but was able to hold on at the last second. As Laila checked how she looked in the small screen in the corner, she pinched her cheeks a few times in order to make herself look a little less pale and give her cheeks a healthy pink blush. When she thought she at least looked presentable, she answered his call and was greeted by Noah's handsome, smirking face.
Noah greeted her with a, "Good morning dear. I see your desire for war came early today. Instead of weeping, I chose to have my assistant prepare a table of desserts that will put that piece of cake of yours to shame. Until that arrives, let me ask how my dear wife and unborn son are doing. It at least appears that he has not affected your appetite this morning."
Laila scoffed and rolled her eyes. "Aren't you supposed to be a busy business owner? Doesn't your assistant have better things to do than fetch cake for you in order to one up me? I will have you know that this son of yours had me on the verge of throwing up this morning. Though I admit, I assisted him by going to bed much later than I should. But because of it, I only had a shake for breakfast. My stomach has only settled down now and I decided to spoil myself a bit. Only to have you declare war on me."
Noah chuckled. "Aren't you shifting the blame there my dear. I do believe it was you starting the war. I only dealt the finishing blow." Hearing this, Laila could no longer keep a straight face and both of them laughed.
