A decision to change a lifetime

Everyone has that one decision, that one moment in their lives that they think back to from time to time and wonder what could have been if they had made a different choice a different decision. A point in time they wish they could go back to. After saving a stranger, Laila has been offered a chance to do just that. Laila has nothing she could want from an outsiders perspective. She lives in a big mansion, with a handsome husband and two beautiful children but in reality her life is far from perfect and she couldn't remember the last time she was truly happy. So, if she was offered a chance to change that, shouldn't she take it? How crazy and unbelievable that chance might seem? This story is indeed in a way a rebirth story but it isn't your typical rebirth story. It is one where the second male lead actually gets the girl. So, if you have ever screamed at your screen over yet another female lead picking the horrible first male lead over the second just because he has realized the error of his ways and therefore all he has done in the past should be forgiven and forgotten, well then search no farther as this is the story for you! Join me in the first week of May as we start this story of how a single decision can determine a lifetime or change it! Until then, feel free to look at my just completed novel A devil's match :D

Catch him in the act

After walking all over town and talking more about the rumours surrounding Jake, Maria and Laila were ready to head back to Maria's colourful home. As agreed upon they got a taxi to take them back up the hill and on the way over Laila asked Maria to inquire further into whether Jake had actually been cheating or not. Even just knowing when and where he would be meeting up with his supposed mistress would be helpful to her.

In her timeline she had her own suspicions, which were then confirmed or solidified by the rumours Maria told her and the pictures she was shown. That lead to her confronting Jake and thus giving him the opportunity to spin the story in his benefit and possibly hide his tracks or end his affair. In this timeline however, his wife-to-be wasn't friends with Maria like she was. If Suzy didn't have any friends that were connected to Jake's friends and she wasn't active in his circle of friends herself either, then she might not be aware of the rumours yet.

Especially if she might not have the same instincts or gut feelings to cause her to become suspicious of Jake's behaviour, then she might still be blissfully unware of what her husband was doing outside of the house. This also meant that Jake might not have had the confrontation with Suzy yet, which gave her and Maria the chance to catch Jake in the act themselves. Though Laila didn't care very much about Suzy finding out about Jake's cheating or about her getting hurt in the process BUT she didn't want Jake to get away with cheating unpunished. So, to prevent him from being able to weasel his way out of trouble, should he truly be cheating, she would make it her personal mission to find undeniable proof if there is any. Plus, playing private investigators seemed like it would be a lot of fun. Who hasn't pretended to be a spy or something on a secret mission. Watching something or someone with binoculars from their bedroom window or that of the attic. Now she would be able to turn her childhood fantasy in reality.

When they arrived at the house and headed towards the couch to give their tired feet some proper rest Maria said, "I must say Laila, I did not expect you to be this enthusiastic about catching him in the act after the reaction you had earlier. But, I do think this is an improvement over you feeling sad over him or because of him. He does not deserve that. So, if getting back at the Jake from your timeline by proving the infidelity of this timeline's Jake will make you feel better, then I am all for it! It is long overdue for that bastard to be getting what has been a long time coming. So, I do not only support you but I am down for every second of it and might even enjoy it more than you will."

Laila chuckled and hugged her supportive friend but just before she was able to respond, her phone went off. She looked at her watch and seeing the time, she thought that it must be Noah wanting to see how she was doing and trying to see if she was available to talk on the phone with him. Seeing as it was dinner time, she imagined he had been missing her company as he was eating his dinner by himself. But when she grabbed her phone and saw the text on the display, it appeared that this day was a day of providing her with the means of taking revenge on those she felt had it coming.

The text was from Giselle and it read, 'We have received our first batch of information on miss Olivia's plans and if you care to know them, give us a call.' Laila let out an excited squeal when she saw those words. "What? What?! What has you so excited?" Maria asked from the other side of the room. "Well, I just received a message from Giselle, one of the staff members, saying that the first batch of information on Olivia is in. So, if you are as excited as I am, I think we should call them to find out just what exactly they managed to find out so soon." Maria chuckled at Laila's excitement and said, "Very well, let's hear it." As she raised her fist in the air she added, "Give them a call!"

Laila excitedly skipped back to the couch and dropped herself down as she replied to the message with, "Of course I care to know!!! I will call right away!" As soon as the message was sent, Laila pressed on the call button, not even waiting for her text-message to be received or read by Giselle. After just two rings her call was answered and she saw Giselle's ever cheerful face. "Hello miss Laila." Giselle said as she waved at the camera on her phone. "Hello my dear Giselle!" Laila replied back as she returned her wave. "I am glad to see you looking well ma'am. I did not expect you to return my message so quickly but everyone is still nearby. Let me go gather everyone and I will call you back once everyone is seated." Laila nodded in agreement and let Giselle go do what she needed to do as she tried to contain her curiosity and excitement.
