The Special Night

Percy POV

Spring break fell right after my April chemo cycle, so I luckily had a short vacation period without any chemo side effects, which was great.

I was currently at the mall with some friends. However, I hated shopping for clothes.

"Percy, how does this look?" Piper asked as she held a dress.

"Piper, why are you asking for my opinion? I asked. Jason was staring at our interaction with keen eyes.

"Because you honestly have better taste than Jason," Piper said slyly.

Jason's face reddened before exclaiming, "I do not have bad taste."

"Yes, you do, Jason. You're just way too conservative about the things I wear," Piper teased.

"Well, excuse me, if I don't want other guys checking you out," Jason said defensively.

While I understood both sides of their argument, I was leaning a little towards Piper on this one. Piper had the right to wear whatever she wants. It's everyone else around her that had to respect women enough to not make unwanted gestures or advances.

"Anyway, Percy?" Piper asked me again.

"Yeah, um, it looks nice, Piper, but it depends on the occasion," I said earnestly.

"Is it good for our party tonight?" she asked me and Jason.

"Wait, you didn't say that the party had to be semi-formal. I was just gonna come in jeans and a t-shirt."

"No, no, everyone has to dress nice," Piper exclaimed firmly.

Jason and I both sighed.

"Well, I guess that I have to buy something nice, now," I said in annoyance. With not much time left, I quickly made my way towards Macy's. I ended up buying clothes for myself and a little something for Annabeth. I felt like she'd like the gift.

The party was a good time. Since it was spring break, no one had any obligations. Somehow, Annabeth and I found ourselves alone in Piper's backyard.

"Hey, Wise Girl, I got you something," I said after a while.

"Really? You didn't have to," Annabeth said softly.

Wise Girl was wearing a light pink dress, and she looked absolutely gorgeous. The dress fit her in the best of ways without it looking indecent.

"I wanted to," I said as I handed her the small box.

She stared at it skeptically before opening it. Three silver charms were inside of the box, and they matched her silver bracelet perfectly. Annabeth always wore her silver bracelet, the same one that she left in my car after our first date at the museum.

"They're beautiful," she said as her eyes sparkled with joy. That's how I knew that she really liked them.

"I thought that we could put them on your bracelet," I said.

"Yeah, I was thinking the same thing," she said with a smile.

I immediately felt relief flood my mind and body. I knew that the silver bracelet meant a lot to her, and I wasn't sure if she wanted to change how it looked.

I took her hand softly in mine and started to attach the charms onto her bracelet.

"It belongs to my mom, Seaweed Brain. I loved her very much," she said.

"Yeah, I bet," I said softly. Annabeth didn't talk about her mother much, but she did share that part of her life with me. It felt good that she trusted me completely.

She pressed the silver bracelet (that now had my three charms attached to it) to her cheek.

"I love it, Percy, thank you."

"I never told you about my dad, Wise Girl."

"You don't have to if you don't want to, Seaweed Brain," she said as she faced me again. Our gazes locked onto each other.

"I want to, Wise Girl. My dad was an amazing guy. He was a soldier who fought and lost his life in the navy. Our best memories occurred in the water and through swimming. I don't remember him much, but I do remember how much we both loved water and swimming."

"He seems like a wonderful man, Percy," Annabeth said softly.

"Yeah, he was. I had to stop swimming after getting diagnosed with cancer," I told her.

Annabeth smiled as she wrapped her arms around my neck. We were very close to each other, and our lips were only inches apart. My hands firmly rested on her waist.

"Well, luckily, it won't be long till you can get back in the water. Just a few more months," she said with a bright smile.

Then, she kissed me. Every time I kissed her it was like the first time. Every kiss made me fall in love with her all over again. This was one of my most favorite kisses ever.

My parents were having a weekend getaway, so I was alone with Annabeth. We had left the party quickly and came back to my home.

The night felt different. It felt like something could happen today, and Annabeth and I both sensed it in the air around us.

It was Annabeth who broke the tension, though.

We were in the living room when Annabeth held out her hand for me.

"Are you ready, Percy? I know you wanted it to be special, but-"

"I am, Wise Girl. I love you," I said as I clasped her hand.

All my usual confidence flooded through my veins as I crashed my lips onto hers. My body pushed hers back as her hands rested on my neck. I lifted her up, and her legs wrapped around my waist as we slowly made our way to my room.

Our clothes were thrown onto the floor one by one. I was careful not to rip her pretty pink dress, though. I definitely wanted her to wear it again.

My knees his my bed, and we crashed onto my mattress. I was laying on top of her as warmth and love spread through us, but neither of us minded.

I realized that every single inch of Annabeth felt amazing that night.

It was one of the best nights I've ever had.

This was the first time in years that cancer had nothing to do with the sex I was having. This was all about how much I love Wise Girl. It was only about love.

I watched as Wise Girl peacefully slept with her head resting against my chest. The sun was lightly streaming through my curtains.

I had just woken up a few minutes.

Annabeth looked so comfortable and peaceful that I remained still. I couldn't take my eyes of Wise Girl, who was amazing.

Neither of us had our clothes on right now, not that it mattered.

I kissed her forehead softly, which made her stir. Oh dang, I woke her up, I thought to myself and internally cursed.

Wise Girl lifted her head, and her stormy gray eyes met mine. A light smile graced her face and emphasized her beautiful features.

"I love you, Wise Girl," I whispered as I pressed a kiss onto her lips.

Annabeth rather quickly pulled away from my lips, which left me in confusion. She sat up but her gaze remained on my face.

"First, I love you, too. Second, I'm not kissing you because you have morning breath. And third,-"

"I don't have morning breath, Wise Girl," I said interrupting her.

"Yes, you do, Seaweed Brain," she said as she playfully slapped my abdomen.

"Ow, my six-pack," I exclaimed.

Annabeth laughed melodiously as she started to get up. One of our blankets went with her as it wrapped around her body.

"Aww, come on. I already saw you naked, so can't I get a little peek," I asked.

She smiled teasingly. "Nope."

I sighed as my head fell back on the pillow. However, my eyes stayed trained on the girl I loved. I loved her so much that I couldn't even imagine not loving her.

She was making her way to the bathroom, but her face turned to me again.

Annabeth was still smiling while she said, "Seaweed Brain, you drool in your sleep."

I stared in shock as Wise Girl disappeared through the door. I quickly got up and followed her into the small bathroom. This was gonna be a great spring break!
