Chapter 50

Shutting off his laptop, Spence sent up a small prayer Kelvin would like it, and then called Gregg.

“It’s on its way,” he said as soon as Gregg answered.

“Fantastic! That means you’re free tonight?”

“As a bird, to be trite.”

“Nothing wrong with trite. Okay. I’ll pick you up in half an hour. A tie is required.” When Spence groaned, Gregg laughed. “Not really. Jeans and a nice shirt will do perfectly.”

“Where are we going?”

“You’ll see.” With that teasing comment, Gregg hung up.

More than a little nervous, because he had no idea what Gregg was planning, Spence did as he’d been told. Jeans were no problem, but it took him a good ten minutes to choose a shirt. Even then, when Gregg phoned to say he was outside, Spence almost dashed upstairs to change into another shirt. “Don’t be stupid,” he said under his breath. “We’re probably going to dinner. And maybe a movie?” That would be fine with him.
