28 The Pure Hostility

"This is Luca's sister, Quinzela Winter. She was so excited to meet you. Unfortunately, the wedding was held at a busy time. At that time, my daughter's company was busy taking care of the stocks while our son was busy with her research in District 1," Brigitte said. She introduced her daughter, who looks like the younger version of Bridgette.

"Hi, it was nice to meet you," Quin said as she nodded her head. Although Brigitte said that the girl was eager to meet her, the girl seemed uninterested in her. Ayana could even felt the

After that, Brigitte introduced Ayana to a family who also attends the diner, the Baynes family. Ayana did not show it on her face, but she was curious about the relationship between the Baynes and Winter Families.

Ayana just stood there for less than a minute, but she could feel the hatred toward her. The young girl named Clara, who is the Baynes couple's daughter looked at her red dress mockingly. Clara didn't hide the obvious disgust on her face when she looked at Ayana. The Baynes couple did not do it as obviously as their daughter, but Ayana can definitely tell that they dislike her like she just run over their puppy

Since there was nothing that she could do, she ignored them and looked around the room. Ayana was ready to retreat to somewhere peaceful and just open her mouth when Mark invited them all to the dining hall.

In the middle of the vast room, there is a long and wide table with chairs on both sides. Mark directly went to the head of the table and sat on the chair at the end of the table. Brigitte sat on her husband's right side and Irene sat on the man left side. Quin left two-row beside her mother empty as the Baynes couple sat beside Irene.

At first, Ayana was going to sit beside Irene, but the Baynes couple had occupied the spot. Irene then motioned for her to let her sit beside Brigitte.

Ayana turned to the other side since there were two empty spots beside the woman. Unfortunately, Clara was quick to sit beside Brigitte.

"I am sorry sis, this is actually my sister's usual spot, but since she cannot make it, I will fill her spot. Brother Luca will sit beside me," Clara said with a troubled expression. Ayana knew that the girl did not regret her action at all since people around the table looked at her with sneers and amusement. Quin even looked down, trying to contain her laughter. Only Irene looked troubled by this situation.

There was a clicking sound in Ayana's brain when she looked at these people's attitudes. Clara's older sister might be the woman who was supposed to marry Luca. That's why their families are very close. Since she will be gone eventually, they seem to keep the marriage on hold.

"Ah, okay," Ayana said. The smile on her face did not flatter at all. She didn't care about this family affair. She was about to walk to the end of the table when Luca entered the dining hall.

"I hope I am not too late," he said as he walked toward Ayana.

"Why are you just standing there?" The man said as he smoothly placed his hand on Ayana's hip.

Ayana blinked. She was totally headed for her seat when Luca approached her and led her in the opposite direction. Ayana was stunned when her butt touched the chair beside Quin.

Isn't this your seat? Ayana looked at Luca with a forced smile.

"Did you forget where your place is?" Luca said with a colder tone. The smile vanished from his lips as he looked at Clara.

"But this is my sister's place. She usually sits here," Clara said with a timid voice.

"I have a wife now. Of course, she should sit beside me. Your sister's seat will be moved by your side since she is your sister." Luca said with a smile. Luca's soft voice created a pin-drop silence as everyone in the room looked at them in bewilderment. Even the maid who brought the diner halted their step. They did not want to get caught in an awkward situation.

"Miss Baynes, please move back to your seat," Luca said, awakening the girl from her daydream.

Ayana would definitely clap her hand if Luca was not the annoying person of the day. Although the man used the words please, the way he talked sounded like he wanted to crush every last hope in the poor girl's soul. Ayana was sure that this Clara girl was terrified now.

Clara did not say anything as her blood rushed to her face. Without saying anything, she stood and ran out of the dining room.

"Where did she go? Where does she think her seat is?" Luca said mockingly as he didn't just make the poor girl cry.

Luca then took a seat in the middle of Brigitte and Ayana.

"Today is my lucky day since I sit in the middle of two beautiful women," Luca said with a slight smile on his face.

Brigitte forced a laugh at her son's words, breaking the cold atmosphere in the dining hall.

"You should talk with Clara nicely. You scare her," Bridgette said with a loud whisper like she wanted everyone to know about that.

"Mother, I asked her nicely. I even use the word 'please'," Luca retorted in the same way.

Ayana pressed her lips together, trying to hold back the smile that would appear if she did not control her face properly.

The merry atmosphere suddenly became a bit gloomy after Clara left. All of them, especially the Baynes, pretend as if nothing big happened, but they could not hide how the event that happened earlier disappointed them. Luca did not just embarrass and anger their daughter, but also them.

Maybe the reason they did not explode in anger after what happened was because of the relationship between the Baynes and Winter.

Norman Baynes, Clara's grandfather, was the former Elder of District 2. Even after he retired from his position, his power was still great. He used to be one of Mark's great supporters. He even promised that his son would also help Mark achieve greater things for District 2. He believed that the pure-blood vampire was the only person who could lead all the districts. Although he was now living on the outer island and enjoying his peaceful life.

Clara did not come back even after fifteen minutes, but no one seemed to care about her and continued the dinner. The Baynes couple tried to enlighten the mood by starting some exciting topics. They acted like the scene where their daughter darts out of the room was just a dream.

One thing is for sure, they started to look at Ayana with pure hostility.

Ayana just enjoyed her food as if nothing happened. It's not like she can do anything to change the situation.
