Drunk

"What happened?" Ayana muttered while trying to recollect all the events yesterday from her brain. She held her head when she felt dizzy for a second.

Did I get drunk? But the only thing wine could do to me is make me relax and not sleep. And there is no severe headache which is the usual effect of getting too much alcohol. Did he pour some kind of drug inside the wine? Maybe. Everything is possible and she just doesn't know the answer.

Ayana pressed her head as she tried to remember again.  But even after trying several times, the last recollection of her memories was only up to the time she decided to relax in Luca's arms.

She looked down and blinked when she found the pink linen with cute cartoons on it.

What?

Only at that time that she realized that it was her pajamas. Ayana was mortified when she found that she was wearing the pink pajamas that her mother sent last time. Ayana prayed in her heart that she was the one who changed her own clothes and was too drunk to remember everything.

Too drunk to remember anything? Just because of a glass of wine? Impossible.

Ayana tried to convince herself that she was the one who walked to her room, changed her clothes, and tucked herself in the bed, although she knew that it was impossible. A glass of wine never made her drunk in the past, except if something was mixed on it.

Sleeping pills? Maybe.

Ayana remembered she started to feel relaxed as she smelled something calming and nostalgic. The smell has the same calming effect as the freshly dried mattress after being dried under the sun but was also nostalgic like the smell of the morning after heavy rain.

Maybe it was some kind of perfume?

Ayana thought for some time and still couldn't figure out anything.

"Just what did he use? I even slept like a dead log and did not have a nightmare even without taking the sleeping pill…." Ayana was pondering over the matter as she soaked her body inside the tub.

It was fifteen to nine when a maid came to her room to call her for breakfast.

"Who took me upstairs last night?" Ayana asked when the maid walked to the lift.

The maid turned around and answered her with a bow, "It was master Luca, miss."

She froze for a second at the maid's answer. She opened her mouth but then closed it again. She wanted to ask her about something, but she just afraid to hear a disappointing answer from the maid.

"Thank you. You may go," Ayana finally said when she realized that the maid was waiting for her next instruction.

After the maid was gone, Ayana turned around and looked around the room. She walked around her spacious room, observing her surroundings.

She was so engrossed with the fact that she sleeps like a log, that she forgot that Luca had stepped into her room.

Since she has a photogenic memory, she would notice if something had changed. She paced around the room for a while. Besides the shoes and bag she used last night, nothing changed. Ayana was also worried that Luca had done something to her door, but in the end, she dismissed the thought and decided to believe him. Just for this time. Maybe he contacted the head security and asked him how the pin was. She just hopes that Luca would never step into her room again.

Ayana walked inside the dining room later than usual. She looked at Luca and Irene, who were talking about something. It seems like they were waiting for her.

"Sorry for the wait," Ayana said as she approached them, quickening her pace.

"Good morning, dear wife. How's your sleep?" Luca asked with his merry voice, creating a small crease in Ayana's brows.

"It was great. I am sorry for the trouble that I've caused yesterday. I must be too tired," Ayana said as she walked to the seat beside Luca. Although she was still guarded against the man, she cannot deny the fact that she had troubled the man yesterday by sleeping in the car.

Ayana felt like her face was getting hot as her mind remembered last night's incident. She quickly diverts her mind to something else. She would pretend everything has never happened after she expresses her gratitude.

"It's okay.  You can trouble me anytime, dear," Luca said with a smile. Ayana nodded before she looked at the meal in front of her. In her heart, she promised herself to never trouble the man again for things like this.

Ayana looked at the man with a guarded expression.

Although they have decided to make a contract with him, Ayana was still on high alert around people she didn't really know. It has become a habit to distrust new people. There is no free meal in this world. The man wanted something from her. As long as she did not know what it was, she would not risk anything.

Irene looked at both of them with a frown. She did not expect Luca to act that nice to a human. Compared to his tone when talking to other people, Luca's way of speaking now seemed very odd to Irene, who has been taking care of Luca since he was child.

Irene observed both of their interactions with interest and worry. Interest because Luca showed this rare side of him because of Ayana and worry because her grandson never acted like this. She did not comment on them as she started to drink the wine in front of her. She noted in her mind to ask Luca about his plan to Ayana. Irene did not believe that Luca treated Ayana kindly because he is interested in humans. His hatred toward humans could not change overnight unless he was possessed or brainwashed.

"Your father actually wanted to meet us today after breakfast. There is something that he wants to talk about," Irene said as she remembered her promise to Mark.

"Okay," Luca answered nonchalantly, unbothered by the topic.

"Ayana, I forgot to tell you yesterday that I have talked with the principal about the school you are going to register in. You can join the class three days from now, so I want you to prepare your admission from today. I have asked our family tailor to come so she can make your uniform," Irene said as she finished her breakfast.
