A Contract to Marry the Cold-hearted CEO

A one-night stand that should not have happened. A perfect night that had gone wrong. Was it fate or a mistake? Jules Morgan was just like any other girl. She dared to dream of marrying the ideal husband and living on a white picket fence. But such was not her luck when she found herself in bed with a stranger the fateful night before her wedding day. She had given herself to another man. Due to guilt, she ditched her groom at the altar, leaving Dale with a note that the wedding was off. She believed she did not deserve a good man like him. As if that was not bad enough, after a few weeks, Jules discovered she had conceived a child from her transgression. Now, she believed she had reached rock bottom. However, she was mistaken. That was not yet the worst part, as she uncovered the identity of her father's child. She knew right then she had to escape him. He could never know that they had a child. Besides, she did not have the heart to hurt Dale again by parading another man's child, especially this man's child. She left everything and attempted to raise her child alone. She was doing fine until her child ended up in the hospital in critical condition. She needed a large sum of money that she did not have. She had no family and barely had friends. She had no one. Except for Damon, the father of her child. She guessed desperate times required desperate measures. But what if he wanted more than she bargained for? *** "A child..." He looked at her with contempt. "You dare to tell me that we have a son." Then, a bellowing laughter echoed in the room. "I am telling the truth. And Oliver needs your help." She knew naming her son might help convince him. "He is very sick." "I am not a doctor. I can't cure him." He said philosophically, obviously mocking her. "I don't need you to treat him. I need your money." She blurted due to her frustration and desperation. The last thing she wanted was to reach out to him and ask for his help, but she had no more choices left. "Finally..." His eyes stared at her, making her feel like they were drilling into her skull. "... we are finally getting somewhere." "What do I get by giving you money?" He asked after a long silence. She looked at him dumbfounded. "You get to help your son." She shouted angrily, infuriated with the heartless man. She still could not understand how she ended up sleeping with him. If she had been only sensible that night, she would never have slept with him, not even in her dreams. "I don't even know if he was my son. For all I know, you could have slept with another guest that night." With that said, her hand swung hard toward his face. The contact was swift, causing her to wince from the impact, feeling the pain in her palm and fingers. But she could not help but wonder if she hurt him when he hardly moved. "Damn you!" She finally found her voice as she turned to leave. She did not need him or his money. She just had to find another way. "Not so fast." Suddenly, he grabbed her arm and yanked her back into his side. "Don't you want to hear my proposal," He added with a vicious smile. "I will give you the money you need and more if you help me with one thing." "What?" "Marry me." Chapter 26

Damon stared at the remaining swirling liquid in his glass, wondering if he had gone insane when he offered his bed to his soon-to-be fake wife.

And not just that, he must be going crazy for even considering sleeping with her again. The first time, he thought, was already a mistake that should never have happened.

However, he could not discount that he was still a man with needs. And sleeping with his legal wife would seem more logical than for him to seek another woman's bed.

"One more." He drained the alcoholic drink before pushing the empty glass to his regular bartender.

He drove to the nearby bar, leaving Jules and Oliver in their rooms, hoping to clear his head. He was about to get married in the morning.

It was not what he wanted, but sometimes he had to sacrifice some things and do things he never liked for their family, business, and family's legacy.

"Thanks." He raised his glass to the man behind the counter before taking a large gulp of the brown premier liquor he preferred to drink.

However, it would seem that three glasses would not be enough for him to forget this ridiculous idea. Nor would it let him stop seeing the image of the woman that once invaded his dreams.

In truth, it took him a while to get her out of his system. And as much as he did not want to admit, after spending the night with her. He found himself thinking about her.

But, of course, he shrugged it off as just another incredible sex. Eventually, with time, he had buried the memory of that girl and forgotten all about her.

However, seeing her again, standing inside his office had somehow dug up those old memories. And when his eyes gazed at her lips, he could not help but remember how soft and supple they were.

He could not stop his need to have her again, even though he knew he should not. Even if he knew it was wrong.

He had no control over his reaction to her as his heart beat faster, and a fire lit up inside him. Suddenly, he remembered not wanting anything more than he wanted to have her.

It was like an obsession that he could not control.

He doubted it was her beauty that fascinated him. But there was something else about her that he could not explain.

At first, he thought it was just his need to prove he was right about her. She was just another gold-digging whore who wanted a piece of their wealth and a way to their social circle.

But now, he felt unsure. Nevertheless, he was still puzzled about why he would wish to sleep with this woman again.

She was only here for one reason as far as he was concerned. To play a part, nothing more. At least that was the plan, but it seemed his body had another thing in mind.

He did not understand why he could remember so many details about her. He thought he had erased that entire night from his head.

Yet, it seemed he was mistaken as his mind uncovered the unwanted memories as they flooded his consciousness with her scent, the feel of her skin against his body, and most of all, how it felt to be completely one with her.

"I knew that was you." A familiar voice spoke behind him. Of course, he had easily recognized his friend. They usually hung around this place to catch up, but sometimes, they used this bar to pick up girls for the night.

But he had moved on from that life, unlike his friend. He just came here to drink and unwind, nothing more. But he doubted his friend had the same idea.

"Yeah, it is just me." He answered uncaringly. "What are you doing here, Travis?" He asked, but he could already guess.

"I was supposed to meet someone, but I think she could wait." His friend philosophically replied with a mischievous smile.

He did not need to see his face to see his friend's expression. He could already hear it in his voice. Somehow, he suddenly regretted coming to this place.

Instead of finding peace and a bit of quiet, he knew he would only hear his friend's annoying voice and unwanted advice.

"The question should be, what are you doing here, my friend." Travis signaled to the bartender, asking for his favorite drink, preferring his cold. "I thought you were bringing home your new family."

Then, his friend's brows raised in question as he scouted the room for the woman he was about to meet here.

If he had to guess, he suspected his friend was not meeting anyone but was about to hook up with someone who would entice his fancy.

"They are home." He gripped his glass tighter than usual as his mind wandered off to the woman, already snoring and sleeping tightly in her new comfortable bed.

"And why are you here? Isn't your wedding tomorrow?" He placed his glass on the counter, letting his fingers play with the moisture crawling down the glass walls.

"Don't tell me that you are having cold feet?" His friend taunted him with his mocking voice. "I did not peg you for a runaway groom." Travis continued with his jibes.

Of course, he had not changed his mind about marrying her and being a father to his son. However, he needed time to control whatever was going on with his mind and his body.

He could not face her again with a raging hard-on, acting like a hormonal teenager about to have his first kiss. Damn! He could not even remember feeling this way when he was young.

"The wedding is on. So, you better not be late." It was early in the morning. The sooner the ceremony was over, the better.

"Aren't you inviting your family to the wedding?" Travis asked, sounding like he was troubled. But he could already guess what he meant by that.

"No. The less my family knew about the wedding, the better." The last thing he wanted was for his family to show up and ruin his plans.

He only invited Travis to join them, to act as his best man and the witness. But he would prefer to limit it to the three of them for now.
