6. Sam and Tom

"Hello?"

For the first time ever, Seraph attempted to use its own voice to communicate with what it identified to be humans. Its voice, while surprisingly smooth and clear, had no emotion in it at all.

Seraph noticed it got no reaction from the humans and spoke once more.

"Can you understand me?"

Sam looked at the figure in curiosity. Its voice sounded nice. Although she couldn't understand it, she couldn't help but be drawn to it.

"Who are you?"

Sam asked while slowly approaching. She couldn't understand what the figure was saying at all. At the same time, she saw the figure's face that was hidden by the hood.

"Wow..."

Sam was shocked by the figure's beauty. Its face had no imperfections at all. Its alluring blue eyes to no emotion at all, only observing the world around it.

Seraph analysed the girl and realised that the girl was a little scared. And so it decided to take advantage of its beauty and took down its hood. It knew that its appearance was appealing to humans.

And humans were creatures that appreciated beauty.

Sam let down her guard as she continued to approach, only to feel a pull stopping her.

"What are you doing Sam!? We don't know who she is at all!"

The timid boy that was with her attempted to pull her

"Tom, don't you think that she would have done something already? Besides, isn't she pretty? There's no way someone so pretty would be a bad person."

Sam, perhaps due to her youth and ignorance, didn't think that Seraph was a threat. In fact, she wanted to get closer to the pretty Seraph.

"Whatever. You're on your own."

Tom ran off in a hurry. He wasn't as trusting as Sam.

Sam tried calling him Tom back, only for him to ignore her. She wasn't as confident on her own.

Seraph absorbed their interaction and could tell the girl was on the verge of running away.

"Seraph."

"What?"

"Seraph."

Seraph said this as it pointed to itself. It was the quickest way to get its point across.

"Is that your name?"

Sam looked at Seraph in confusion before quickly getting the gist of its meaning.

Seraph, who could somewhat tell what she meant, nodded its head as it called its name once more.

"Seraph."

Seraph then pointed to her and then looked at her in curiosity.

"I'm Sam. Where are you from?"

Seraph could only identify which part of her sentence was her name. The rest of it felt foreign.

Sam at this point could tell that Seraph didn't understand its meaning.

"Follow me."

Sam beckoned for Seraph to follow her. It took a while before the message seemed to get through.

As Seraph followed behind her, Sam wondered what she should do. She thought that Seraph was a traveller from a foreign land because Seraph couldn't understand her.

"Should I ask elder brother? No, maybe I should go to the elders? But then I'll get in trouble. What should I do?"

While Sam was in her own world wondering what she should do, Seraph analysed her and the surroundings.

[The material seems like a cross between cotton and wool]

The way Sam dressed was reminiscent of a peasant during the Victorian Era. It didn't take long before Seraph could hear the movement of people up ahead.

...

"YOU WENT WHERE!?"

A raged voice echoed from a house.

"S-sorry."

Tom could be seen apologizing to a young man with tears in his eyes. He didn't think they would come across a figure in the forest.

"Never mind that! Wait a second."

The young man ran into the house for a while and came out with a sword.

"Alright, show me which way you guys went."

...

"Sam!"

Sam could hear a familiar voice calling her.

"It sounds like brother...? But why would-"

Seraph slowed down as he heard the commotion. It didn't want to give the humans a reason for them to attack it.

A young man could be seen darting through the forest as he rapidly approached them.

"Brother!"

Sam could finally make out the figure to be her brother.

"Thank goodness you're okay."

Sam's brother embraced her as he heaved a sigh of relief.

"What were you thinking? Didn't I tell you that this forest is dangerous?!"

"Am I not okay? It's not like I was in danger?"

Sam mumbled quietly in protest of her brother's ramblings.

It was then that her brother turned to look at Seraph. Although he was awed by Seraph's beauty, his sister's safety came first.

"Who are you?"

Sam's brother asked in wariness. All Seraph did was raise its hands as a sign of surrender. At the same time, it said its name as it pointed at itself with its thumb.

"Seraph."

"Um brother, I think she doesn't understand our language."

Sam then explained the little interactions she had had with Seraph. Sam's brother furrowed his eyebrows in contemplation. Although he didn't fully believe this, his sister was unharmed.

"I'm sorry."

Sam's brother gave a little bow to Seraph as he apologised. He realised that Seraph had no reaction and remembered what his sister had just told him.

"What should we do?"

Sam turned to her brother. She wanted to help Seraph.

"Let's talk to the elders. I'm sure they'll think of something."

Let know what yall think. I think I should change the way I write dialogue.
