Such a kid

Yu Chen was helping her mother in the kitchen as Si Xia tried to make small talk with Mr. Yu. But he kept replying coldly at every try Xia made.

Si Xia was about to give up when Chen's scream suddenly rung out through the house.

Before Mr. Yu even had time to react, Si Xia rushed to the kitchen and had Yu Chen in his arms.

"What? What happened?" he asked Chen, who seemed very disturbed.

Yu Chen just shook her head and buried her face in Xia's shirt, who looked up at Mrs. Yu with a very confused expression.

At this point, Mr. Yu entered the kitchen and he truly was a bit taken aback upon seeing the way the city boy was protecting Chen. It was almost like a lioness protecting her cub.

"What happened?" Mr. Yu asked after he recovered and teared his gaze away from Chen and her boyfriend.

Mrs. Yu, in response, shook her head and sighed before smiling. "You really need to grow up Chen. I can't believe you're still such a kid." Mr. Yu frowned and looked at Mrs. Yu who smiled at Si Xia, saying, "She's more ashamed than frightened. Come on Chen. No-one here is judging you for being afraid of a mouse."

Si Xia: "....."

Mr. Yu: "PFFFTTTTTT!!!!!"

Mrs. Yu also chuckled as she picked up the empty pot Chen had been holding before she dropped it upon seeing the mouse.

Si Xia looked down at this girl who looked like she had had a very terrifying encounter and spoke, stiffling his laughter, "That....scream was.... because you had seen a mouse???"

Yu Chen looked up in Xia's eyes. She narrowed her eyes spoke through gritted teeth, "Laugh. I dare you."

Si Xia: "....."

Mr. Yu continued laughing as he spoke, "I don't think you can really blame her dear. She's always been scared to death of mice. Remember that one time she thought a mouse was chasing her and ran through the whole garden before climbing a tree and refusing to come down?"

Si Xia was on the verge of laughing upon hearing this when he caught sight of Chen glaring at him and immediately sealed his mouth shut again.

Mr. and Mrs. Yu had a hearty laugh before the latter pushed the other three put of the kitchen. "Okay. Dinner is almost done. Now get going. And take her with you. God knows what she'll drop the next time she sees a mouse."

Yu Chen was unwilling to leave the kitchen, but she quietly walked out upon hearing that there were more mice in the kitchen.

Dinner was a very enjoyable event as Mrs. Yu had prepared all of Chen's favourite dishes.

"I lub you mawm!!!!!!! These are so gooooood!" Yu Chen exclaimed with her mouth stuffed with food.

"Don't eat like that. No one is coming to take the food from you. Eat slowly." Mrs. Yu reprimanded Chen as Si Xia gently tucked a loose strand behind her ear and put another dumpling in her bowl. Yu Chen let out a huge smile before she picked up a piece of meat between her chopsticks and fed Si Xia.

"Okay, okay. Remember your parents are here Chen." Mr. Yu spoke in an exasperated voice.
