1 New Reality

Maddison was having a bad day... which wasn't that much of a surprise. Be it Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday... it didn't matter, he simply couldn't shake off the feeling of being sucked dry by College. It was always the same routine: wake up, study, work a part-time job, study a bit more, and then push for an assignment's deadline - it just completely emptied his energy fuel to do stuff.

'At least I'm only one step away from my final form - to become the empty husk of an office worker.'

He sarcastically mused while taking the subway home - taking a ride was the stuff for rich people.

It was in rare times like these, when he had nothing to worry about, that he'd rest. Usually, a cliché and wish-fulfillment Web Novel would suffice, as all he wanted was to forget about his current worries. He knew it didn't add much to his knowledge, but that was exactly the whole point - to really not care about the outside world and just enjoy some Fantasy. He could be everything he wanted; a muscled-head with the strength to level entire mountains or an assertive and admired politician. The possibilities were limitless.

From his sweater's pocket, he took out an old iPhone before leaning against his seat. His finger hovered above the anonymous tab for a second, before he ultimately decided against opening that kind of 'material' while still in the subway. Just thinking about it though... he stared at the bulge forming in his trousers.

That could be taken care of inside his apartment - or a random restroom.

For now, though, there was the usual Transmigrated - LitRPG - 'Oh I wish that was me' kind of novel that he could waste his time on.

'If I could choose a System, then I'd definitely-' He stopped mid-thought, shivering a little. The temperature had suddenly dropped a few degrees. 'Cold... they should fix these air-conditioners.' He cussed at whoever it was that managed the air-conditioners. Just outside his scope of view, the lights started flickering on and off, like the electricity couldn't reach them anymore.

'But really, if I could choose, then it'd be - without a doubt - a sex system. That sounds like a nice concept to...'

His eyebrows creased a little - the subway's temperature was too low. How the other people didn't start complaining, was a wonder...

There were no more people in his compartment, he finally realized. Beyond the subway's windows, he couldn't see the station anymore.

'- play with...' He concluded, a single clarity forming in his mind.

"Oh." He couldn't help but mutter out loud.

All within a second, all light and sound died, almost as if everything was pushed into a single point in space and then squeezed through a peephole. Maddison felt his body flying away from everything at terminal velocity, the world taking a dull color at the far distance.

Then light engulfed his being, and that was the last thing he remembered.

"Move-" He woke up to the distorted sound of voices. There was an itch forming around his wrists, and his tongue tasted like dirt. Actually, his face was against the dirt - no wonder. It was quite bright, like a full-blown summer shined in the sky.

"I said-" The voice grew a little louder before he felt the air coming out of his lungs, "Move, you filthy maggot!" A kick landed on his stomach, expelling all questions Maddison could have asked out of his mouth.

"ARGH-" He coughed, a faint taste of iron invading his mouth. Perhaps, that kick was a little too strong. Now eyes up, he stared at his assailant. It was a woman with a light pale and grey skin, she had elongated ears, like those of an elf. Plus, she wore a light leather armor that accentuated her hips and shapely butt. All things considered though, her expression didn't look good.

"Stand up, or I will end your pathetic life right here and right now." She said while staring at him from above, her gaze that of molten iron. She wasn't bluffing. Millions of question were up in his mind, but, in the end, his instincts took the best of him

He obeyed without hesitation and immediately stood up. He stumbled a little when he saw the short line of chained people - men and women alike - going up the mountain, and inside a hollow crypt. Some wore nothing at all, while the best he could see were some rags covering their nether regions. A single blood drop went down his lips, his almost naked flesh shivering in the cold breeze.

"If you want to stay alive, then continue moving slave." She snickered before giving her back to him, not sparing a single glance at his poor condition. Likewise, the other 'slaves' continued moving forward, not sparing him a single glance as well. Still, it wasn't like he could stay quiet. He had to ask-

"Where am I?" He whispered to the closest man, who just silently stared at him. His gaze was gentle, but he never once answered the question. He was too afraid to open his mouth.

And just when Maddison thought he was going crazy or even dreaming, a single screen flashed into the light. It both answered his questions and made him even the more worried.
