1 Broadcasting Choice System

[First-Person POV]

"How numbing..." I muttered as I ate my favorite food. Though I called it my favorite, I felt no joy eating it. A steaming, freshly baked pizza with beef crumb and pepperoni couldn't make me feel anything. How tragic.

No matter how much I tried to feel something, any emotions I wanted to feel never came out. I was born with a mental illness, alexithymia, with the condition of having no emotional value for anything. While it wasn't an illness one would be born with, I was a particular case.

Ever since I was a child, I knew I was strange. Born in an orphanage and having grown up with other kids, I had much time to observe how one would act.

To them, nearly every little thing that didn't matter would bring out a lot of emotions, and due to their immature age, emotions were what drove them the most.

On the other hand, compared to them, I was the total opposite. No matter how much one tried, they couldn't make me feel anything. This condition of mine had forced everyone in the orphanage to isolate me, even the caretakers inside. I was forced to leave once I was old enough and had money to move out.

Since then, I have decided on my life's goal. Before I die, I will do my best to experience an emotion: happiness, anger, sadness, or even annoyance if needed.

[Broadcast Choice System Activated!]

[In life, one is forced to make a decision. For someone who couldn't care less about these decisions, let's make this exciting and put more of a stake. Maybe one day, the purpose you have will be fulfilled by this!]

When a man in his late teens or a young adult suddenly appeared inside their minds, everyone saw him lying on his bed, staring at his small roof. Seeing him doing nothing, the people thought this recording was accidentally made since the person didn't seem to notice that he was alive.

Everyone could tell that this man was extraordinary from his appearance. His unusual white hair, which shouldn't look natural, fitted well, and his clear, light blue eyes were as calming as unmoving water.

The people watching this were given two choices: to watch from a third-person point of view or in the first person. By default, when watching in the first person, everyone saw the message the young man had seen.

In a world where the supernatural existed for everyone to know, stories about a poor nobody with a system were the current mainstream novels one would read.

Seeing firsthand how someone had gained such power, those novel enthusiasts were jealous and screamed, "It should have been me!"

Of course, these were the minority. On the bigger side, with the camera pointed at the young man, leaders of their respective countries wanted to know where this man had come from. With everyone worldwide seeing this, some feared how such a power could affect the world on a large scale.

"AHH!!! MY LEGS!!!"

While this was happening, because of the broadcast interference, there were many car accidents due to drivers' inability to hit the brakes. Cars crashing into other cars, people, and properties caused chaos.

It wasn't just car accidents occurring. Another job requiring a high level of concentration is that of a surgeon performing surgery. A few of them had accidentally punctured a patient, which in turn caused a bloody mess. Let's just say this sudden broadcast killed many in the process.

While many terrible things have happened, at least the people who earn money from the hospital should be happy. The people who work in hospitals with overpriced health care in their country should be happy they are getting paid because of the sudden number of patients coming in.

For those who had a family member die from this incident, a few people had ordered the arrest of the man lying down on his bed. He became infamous in those few seconds.

[First-Person POV]

After those few words from this "system," nothing happened. My system's name was weird. If it were called a choice system, leaving it at that would have made more sense. Did my system want me to do a live stream?

Since that was the case, I might as well try. I currently have no plans, and since I was freed from work due to my boss having to renovate his store, I might as well do something. Maybe something would come out of this.

However, all those plans were ruined when I realized I had no camera. My phone might work, but I wouldn't be surprised if the quality was outright terrible. With no choice in the matter, I will make due, and if this livestreaming doesn't work out, I will just forget it.

Opening a live streaming platform and logging in took me a few minutes before I could start my stream. With no prior experience, this could get a little messy.

Leaving my room and going out of my apartment, I could feel the residents' gaze. Since none of them dared to speak up to me, I left the place and wandered.

Arriving outside, the gaze never left. Considering I was now in public, more eyes were on me. There were a lot more than they needed to be. Taking a photo of myself, nothing about my appearance seemed different.

Did this system of mine somehow enhance my charm without my knowledge? If so, it would be troublesome. I was already stunning in the eyes of others. If I were to become any better, how would the poor people find love with the people who set me as a standard?

I would think that if I cared.
