You can look at it in that way, that she is selfish because she chose not to feel. But you can also look at it in another way, because she cares too much, she chose to separate herself because she felt it was already too much for the people that she loves. That’s a classic self criticism, that almost anyone can apply to themselves. Everything you do in life is a selfish decision if looked at the right way. I hope this isn’t actually the takeaway, but just something leading up to it.
