I would say strength + intelligence is the best path for school. Strength is for bullying the bullies and intelligence is to get away with it!

Wouldn't intelligence help him more quickly recognize enemies attack patterns. Their weakness in fighting styles. Not to mention more quickly recognize possible traps? It most certainly is not for just studying.

Reason to not increase intelligence is that he studied hard in previous life without getting a decent job. Well, I thought martial arts usually require high level of comprehension the further you go, isn't it connected to intellect? I mean, he do not have any other stats related to comprehension.
