This chapter is quite powerful. It makes me think of the dream where Roland remembers when, after he reincarnated after the fall of the Mist Kingdom, goes back there. The ice there is cold, sharp, intemporal. He is confronted with the loss of everything that was dear to him. The second thing where I can see a parallel with, are the snow planes in Hell that torment souls. Roland had to purge his sins there too after the Hell battle arc to be able to return to the main plane.

Okay, so that's two completed swords, one partially completed sword and one not even started on sword. Also a really sharp sword without a hilt seems very impractical. The only thing you'd be achieving with that is slicing your own fingers off.
