The horror of Mathematical analysis where numbers become secondary. It all comes back together with the names Euler, Lagrange and Fourier... The moment you learn that math in school is not actually math but at most calculation and calculation tricks.

I love how Roland hoodwinks people into changing their professions while still maintaining their idea of free will.

This is why I like this novel. We are actually seeing Roland change, he himself has said it before: there is a kind of pleasure when you get people to do what you want. That is a ruler. I can’t wait to read about the war and how much of a strain it will place in everyone.
