They killed a large number of rats but not once over a 2 year period did they follow up on the tunnels they had dug and try to find a source or reason why it really is only the second time he's seen the wings, when Zhankong was flying to the rescue he was inside the cave and didn't see him using them

So why didn't the chief go out and attack the darkwing wolf to begin with an end most of the bloodshed?
