So, is author forgetting that a couple chapters ago he mentioned that Chu Fei Ling and Yang Luo Ran had TWO children and not just one son that they "lost". Is author already backtracking on that?? Also, I find it completely irrational that any parent would just willingly abandon their kids if they were injured, at least without ensuring they were in safe hands? If they were being chased, how about splitting up to take the kids to safety while the other parent fights for time. These two abandoned their kids to save themselves. Seems highly unlikely one of them wouldn't have died to protect the rest if this were a life and death situation, but now we at least know that it wasn't so grave that an "elixir" could save them...
