Chapter 5 - Regressor

A man is then seen sleeping on his room sweating.

The man awakens and thinks.

This...! I've travelled back on time, let me go to a mirror real quick.

The man then stood up from the bed and approached the mirror.

This is me 20 years ago! Back then I've lived a miserable life and have failed to save my sister, this time I'm going to correct all of my mistakes.

The man then change into his school uniform and head downstairs on his house.

I am Wist, I was a low rank swordsman in my past life because Earth will go through devastating changes just a year from now. Portals appeared on Earth and it starts releasing monsters, different kind of terrifying monsters.

Humans were terrified of the monster but we're given blessings by the so called Gods, they gave us power to combat those monsters and we successfully push them back but through the course of time, portals will become a playground for humans who have received blessing to gain easy wealth.

Luckily, I'm also blessed by a God and became a swordsman though it was low rank, it was a good start. Through the course of several years, blessings are classified as low rank, mid rank, high rank, master rank, devastating rank, universal rank and apostle rank.

People who received blessings then discriminate those ranks lower than them, it was pitiful for me who was only low rank but I've got no choice but to keep moving forward to support my sister, my only family left.

Though I was ridiculed, bullied, laughed, beaten up by people whose higher than me, I did not stop, I became their dog so I can survive. People with blessings then started killing innocent people but the law could not stop them, I also witnessed them killing someone but I dare not speak because I might die and my sister will not survive.

Now that I've regressed, those 20 years of information gathered will not be of waste, I'll grasp every opportunity, take advantage of my memories, and gather allies. I've got to get stronger in a short amount of time to prevent any disasters that will befall upon my loved ones.

Let's not rush things now, if I've been back 20 years then my age now must be 20, then that means that my father and mother probably left us. Who cares, those two aren't worth anything anyway, my father who gambles and drinks all day while my mother who is a prostitute so she can gain a better life.

Me and my sister, Ghela are left alone in this world, we rely on each other, she's only 18 years old though, that's why I'll cook for her and attend school.

I then walked down the stairs and cooked food for me and my sister.

My sister then came down the stairs after smelling the food I made.

"What's that, brother? It smells good! It must be tasty too, right?"

It's...It's been a long time since I saw my sister, it's a blessing that I've regressed.

"Of course, it's good, I'm your brother after all, now eat! Fill your stomach to the brim!"

"Okay!"

After eating...

"Hey, Ghela, watch the house for me, will you?"

"No worries, good luck on your studies, brother!"

"I'll be back soon."

And with that I'm leaving the house and now going to school. Honestly, I could not attend school because the Earth will be in chaos next year anyway but it's necessary for me to get a treasure hidden underneath the school.

It's hard for me to retrieve it without arising any suspicion, going at night would be good but security is harsh and without the strength I have back then, I would be nothing but an ordinary man who is slightly better than the rest.

I'll think about the treasure another time if I have the opportunity to do so. For now, let's attend college and train my body afterwards.

I then entered the classroom, it was noisy because everybody is talking to each other, I just sat in my seat and wait for the teacher to arrive.

But without even the teacher arriving, my classmates stop the noise and focus on one person entering the door.

It was Azon, he bullied me back in highschool because of the difference in status. No matter, I'll forgive him for now, I'll investigate the principal's office very soon , I bet the treasure is hidden in there.

"Hmm? I think someone is staring at me?"

Azon is quite annoyed but paid no attention.

This class is boring, I've got nothing to do in here, it's a pity that I didn't get to ask the cube master about why should I date the substitute teacher. Well, nevermind, I'll ask him again if the opportunity arises.

The class ended as usual and returned to home and go to my room.

"That's no fun, if this is Earth, using my strength will be destructive, I have no one to spar or at least vent out my strength."

I was prepared to sleep because of the boredom when suddenly the cube master appeared out of nowhere and present me a mission.

"Yo, how are you, boy? How was the task I gave you?"

"What do you mean task? You never gave me any and what made you think I'll accept a task from you?"

"Calm down, boy. Young and impulsive as you are, I can crush you with 1 finger but sadly you still can't traverse the starry sky. Anyways, I present you the task so you can get stronger, gain more skills and dominate the world, don't you want it?"

"And why should I trust you?"

"I thought you're smart, you should know already. The cube itself is my representation of trust. Otherwise, I would have never sent you there."

"...You're right, sorry, I'm really bored lately that I lost my thought for a moment."

"Don't mind that, what about the task?"

"What task you mean?"

"The substitute teacher, boy!"

"Oh, you didn't give me any specifics as to why should I do that so in the end, I did nothing."

"Haaaa... Nevermind, I was suppose to give you 5 billion worth of magic knowledge if you capture her heart."

"Magic? That exist?"

"It does and it will be revealed in your supposed next task."

"What is it?"

"Kill the regressor or subdue him and make him your follower."

"Regressor? What do you mean?"

"Someone disrupted the time boundary and travelled back in time. I bet some God might have helped him, I would like to go and deal with it personally but I want to test the capability of my cube apprentice."

"So you wanted to evaluate me? That's nice, regressor, huh? I wonder what the future is like."

"Don't worry, you'll know soon once you've killed or capture him, either way works."

"Alright, I'll do it so what's the reward?"

"5 billions years worth of swordsmanship knowledge."

"Really? How will you do it? By sending me back to the cube and let me train there for 5 billion years again?"

"No... I will implant my memories into you, it's my 5 billion worth of swordsmanship."

"Be sure to prepare it, since I will do it fast and nice. By the way, how would I know where this regressor is?"

"I'll give you a direction indicator, that should be more than enough to track him down."

"Alright."

"I'll go now, boy, you better not disappoint me. If you capture him without any injury, I might give you an extra reward."

"I guess you have purposes on letting him live?"

"I care not on how you complete the task whether by killing him or subduing him but as the first person ever to pass the billion year mark, this is my recommendation to you. Of course if you don't want it, just treat my recommendation as nothing."

"No, you're definitely a help."

"Interesting... Well, I've got to go now but remember this, the enemy of your enemy is your friend. Be sure to keep that one in mind."

And with that the cube master disappeared again.

I wonder what does he mean with his last sentence? Could it be that the humans are my enemy? That's obviously it but no matter how vicious I am, I'm still human, it's my race, I was born as human. Well, no matter, I'll figure it out sooner or later.

I then put on my suit, mask and a top hat just like a mysterious villain should and set off to find the regressor.

On Wist's residence...

Wist is seen cooking dinner on their humble home that is neither poor nor lavish.

"Hey, Ghela, what do you want for dinner?"

Ghela who is sitting on the couch and watching some television responded politely.

"Anything could do, brother!"

Stop being silly, you brat! I know you like pork. Well, I'll just surprise her with pork for dinner.

"Alright, I'll call you when it's ready."

Just as I was about to prepare dinner, a man in suit, mask and a top hat appeared before me.

"Hello, I'm Azon, could we talk for a moment?"
