BAD AS IT GETS

Later that day, mom fetched my sibling from aunt's house and took both of us to my father's sister and left us there in the middle of the night.

While still startled about mom's behavior, father called his other relative who had a car to come pick us, I sat in the back with no words, wondering where we were headed.

There we arrived, in a stranger's home, apparently, they were father's uncle and aunt. They had a huge house, computers in bedrooms and small couch in the room we later moved to. Their first born was an accountant and had a son who lived in the same house whereas the second born had his own family just few streets from his parent's house.

That night I slept with mom's phone below my pillow but woke up empty handed; father had gone back to London. We spent an entire month there, honestly it was not all bad being there, but it was a challenge to always ensuring that my little sister was well. It was mid-July when I heard my grandparents' car park outside; I never forget the sound of its engine.

Finally, I will be going home.

From there I don't recall what happened up until the time I had to go back to my previous school and live with Grandma. Ever since then, my life changed both emotionally and financially and probably my personality.

I tried so hard to suppress my pain and gave fake smiles. I shifted from a girl who had everything to one with no purpose, a girl broken beyond repair, one who did not like people's company but writing and listening to music were the only things that kept me to the living with grandmother escalated matters. Befriending Mo was the best thing that ever happened for me but then he swapped school. I tried to join Matrix, a dance club, but grandmother was against it and not because it affected my schoolwork but because of nana's household chores. I had to quit, as if that was not enough, I had to clean some of the rooms before going to school and honestly the universe had not been fair to me.
