What?? I Have To Choose Drawbacks Now...

"What ways?" the Lich questioned, sounding irritated. Watching the wide grin on the faceless god's lips, he didn't have a good feeling about this.

The god moved closer to the stone wall and pointed to the very bottom. "You see this? You can choose any drawback from this list. Take on a drawback, and you'll gain more points."

<Points for drawbacks>

Blindness (200 points)

One-handed (200 points)

Fragile body (200 points)

Moderate fat (50 points)

Permanent severe fat (150 points)

Minor infamy (50 points)

Great infamy (150 points)

One-legged (200 points)

Random major disability (300 points)

Completely random drawback of any severity (300 points)

The Lich studied the list carefully, hands on his chin. "Hmm, this is an interesting way to go about it."

It wasn't compulsory to choose any drawbacks, but taking one was the only way to gain more points.

Though the Lich planned to enjoy a peaceful new life, he had no intentions of being weak.

After experiencing the world for thousands of years, he knew one law remained unchanged across all realms, only the strong could truly enjoy peace, while the weak suffered endlessly with no choices.

He didn't plan to suffer such a fate.

'Damn this sadistic fucker! He could probably just give me more points, but he wants to enjoy this, Tsk!' the Lich thought bitterly, but his face remained expressionless as he looked at the faceless god standing beside.

"So what did you decide? Taking any drawbacks?" the faceless god asked.

The Lich looked over the drawback exchange list again, carefully considering each factor. After all, he couldn't be too careless - he had to think about both his future and the value these choices would bring.

'Hmm, if you look at it, moderate fat is kind of a freebie. I'll be fat at the start, but with some exercise, I can get back to normal. Tsk! But it only gives 50 points.'

His gaze drifted downward. 'Permanent severe fat is a no go. Fuck, I won't get any bitches with that. My undead life was already wasted without getting any action because I lacked my dong. If I take this drawback, I'll end up with a useless dick again.'

He considered the other options, but they seemed too extreme. Taking the one handed or one-legged drawback and pulling an overpowered SS tier blessing sounded good in theory, but he didn't want to live a crippled life. It was the same with blindness - too harsh of a drawback.

With those, he could certainly become overpowered, but his motivation wasn't power - it was living a peaceful, happy life.

'And a very weak body? No way, I'll just end up bedridden in the hospital constantly.'

'Infamy? Isn't that an odd one out on this list?'

'Well, I have gotten used to living with infamy for so long now...sigh, I wanted peace, but I think minor infamy won't be too problematic.'

After thoroughly weighing his options, the Lich decided with certainty, "I'll take the minor infamy and moderate fat drawbacks."

"Hmm, only taking those two? That's just 400 points total. You won't be able to pick any of the S tier blessings," the faceless god gestured at the wall.

"Why don't you try the random drawback option? There's a chance you'll get away with just a minor fracture or something. It's a whopping 300 points, you have to take some risks to survive you know."

"Nope! I'm good," the Lich stated firmly without a second of consideration.

His gaze moved over to study the blessings list again.

"Really? You know there's a good necromancy blessing in the S tier. You don't want that?" The faceless god leaned in close to the Lich's face.

"I already said no! And don't even mention necromancy to me, it did me more harm than good. This time, I'm not pursuing magic at all."

The god let out a small chuckle. "Really! You a Lich won't take magic? Fuck are you kidding me? Then what are you planning to take?"

The Lich stared back at the faceless god with empty eyes as memories from his past life flooded in.....

"What have you done?" A long-haired girl's voice rang out, her blood-red eyes fixed on him with disgust and frustration.

Her hand gripped tightly at the katana by her side.

"You killed them all! You were their hero, their saviour!"

"It was their destiny. They were meant to die here for a greater purpose."

Ignoring the Lich's words, she screamed again as if in pain, anger burning in her betrayed gaze. "You were a hero! Now look at what you've become, you're not even human anymore!"

"I was never destined to be a hero."

"Destiny? What crap are you spouting? There's no such thing, it's all about the choices you make! Bastard, you failed my trust! I loved you!"

.

.

.

The Lich clenched his fist, looking down at his broken ribs, "Life is all about how you live it, huh?" he murmured.

Pushing past thought aside for a moment, he turned to face the faceless god once more. "You'll know soon enough," Lich replied with a firm voice.

The display in the upper right corner of the stone wall updated, Points: 400

looking at it Lich nodded slightly, then focused his attention back on the list of blessings.

With his total points, the S tier blessings were no longer an option.

So he had to choose wisely from the A tier down to the G tier.

'All the low-tier blessings are pretty trash. I should at least try to get one good A-tier blessing.'

Again, your loving Author-san here...

I have a quick question for you guys. Which A-tier blessing from above would be most useful for the MC? (If the answer you comment is right, I will publish one extra bonus chapter. You have one week to respond.)

Another question: What combination of drawback and blessing would you choose if you were the MC, and why?

Like I said, I am a comment-obsessed author, so your comments are most appreciated. If you have any suggestions or complaints, just comment.

Also, thanks for reading! I hope you will continue to enjoy it.

Should I upload 2 chapters a day, or is this pace fine with you?

Anyway, peace out! See you in the next chapter.
