CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR :The Hospital & Mr Stranger.

'Day 6 out of 365 days to live'

Dear diary,

Today is the sixth day of my fruitless effort in trying to find true love like my dear fairy godmother said.

Surprisingly,I'm tangled up in a messed up psychotic family who desperately needs me to marry their arrogant and self centered son,who needs to see  a psychiatrist because i don't think he's stable.

Not excluding the fact that their old man,the head of the family, persuaded me more like threatened me to get married to his grandson.

Well diary the amazing part in all of these,is that i don't get to feel any symptoms pertaining to my illness just like the fairy said but I'm sad, like I know i  have to fall in love with someone but i  can't accept grandpa's request or should i?

Dear God,if truly you exist like they said, please send me my true love soon or else my soul's doomed?

That's all for today,bye.

Hazel closed her diary, placing it inside her closet where Sunny would hardly see it,because she was such a nosy personnel.

Hazel sighed, feeling guilty for hiding this from Sunny, she knew Sunny hardly let's her emotions out but telling her that she has only a year to live was going to make her such a spoiler alert.

Hazel could remember the last time she passed out in the alley and was saved by her,she recalled vividly the scolding she got from Sunny who thought she had died.

Sunny didn't go to work for a week and lost a huge contract deal which she had been expecting, just to take care of her and make sure she was truly okay after much pleading from her that she was fine.

After all these,Hazel could not find the courage to tell her about her illness,it's  better she doesn't know about this, the better for everyone.

Her heart skipped when she heard her phone ringing pulling her out of her trance, she picked her phone  up  from the table to find the assistant of the head orphanage where she grew up calling her, which was surprising because she never really called unlike Mother, the owner of the place.

"Susan?"Hazel picked up.

"Mother is requesting your presence, you need to come over immediately"

"Why the rush?"

"She's sick Hazel, you need to come quickly,I will text you the address"Susan hung up without giving her time to ask any further questions.

Hazel felt a  little bit awkward after receiving the call,as if something bad was going to happen, she could feel goose bumps rising in her upper skin, her mind not at ease.

Why would mother be at the hospital?

She quickly had her bath, took up her purse lying on top of the table in the sitting room, hailed a taxi as Susan sent a text message to her,and she was heading to the city's central hospital.

"This way"Susan told her in a monotonous tone which Hazel chose to ignore, she has never really been the friendly type anyway.

"Mother"Hazel called, her voice cracking a little bit looking at the woman who took care of her, looking unhealthy and all drained out that she could see her veins ready to pop out of her skin.

"Sunshine,is t... that you?"Lady Morgana asked, finding it a bit hard to talk, she raised her right hand to touch Hazel's face, while the young lady teared up the minute her hand touched her cheeks.

"I'll be outside"Susan said leaving the duo.

"I'm so..sorry if i had been a little distant towards you,I didn't actually know you were sick as i have been really busy these days but .."Hazel blurted out stroking her old wrinkled skin but was cut short by her.

"I'm not complaining Hazel,I..'' Morgana coughed while trying to talk.

"You don't have  to talk"

"No Hazel,it's been a while i  have been keeping this away from you,it's high time you know this"

"What are you talking about mother?"Hazel asked staring at her while the old woman sat up with the help of Hazel then she took out a soft fluffy blanket and handed it over to Hazel who looked at her with mixed emotions, her eyes held questions but she didn't want to stress the poor old woman who was finding it hard to talk.

"It was from your real mother, this piece of clothing was what you were wrapped in when i  found you in front of our home, then this letter,I could not bear the thought of reading it,but i think it's time you get to…"

"I don't want to take it mother, what's the use of it now?"Hazel declined her request immediately when she figured out the intention of the visit.

"Stop being stubborn Hazel and listen to me,you need to have it because it belongs to you,you can decide what to do with it later but i will advise you to read what is in it Hazel, you can never know what fate has instore for you"Lady Morgana said coughing loudly this time that she could not stop then susan came rushing into the room and pushed Hazel aside.

"What did you say to her?!"Susan roared to her in anger as she pressed the emergency button.

"I..I didn't say anything,we were just talking and suddenly.."

"You need to leave"

"But.."

"Get out!!"Susan shouted, pushing her away as the doctors came rushing in.

Hazel stood outside watching the doctors do their work on Lady Morgana while tears fell down her face, she saw Susan crying as the nurse whispered something over to her as Hazel left before Susan sees her and flare up again.

She looked at her hands which  held  the blanket and the letter, which were the lead to finding her birth parents, but she felt uneasy and her stomach did a turn up at the thought of reading the letter because she was not yet ready for that now.

Her life has been full of drama but this, which she was holding now was clearly another phase of  fucked up drama which she was not ready to uncover yet,she was so lost in thought that she didn't knew when she bumped into a hard rock ,the impact so strong that the blanket and letter fell off her hands.

"I'm so sorry,I didn't know you were coming my way"Hazel apologized as the two of them bent down to pick up the blanket and letter that their hands touched, which sent sparks up her spine the very moment thier hand touched.

Hazel sucked in her breath when she felt her body reacting to this unfamiliar feeling she just had, building up her confidence and she decided to figure out who was the reason for her body's discomfort.

Hazel could swear she felt her heart stopped, she looked deep into the coldest brown eyes ever which were staring at her too.

She felt the world stopped that very minute, his eyes held deep emotions concealed in them which was drawing her in.

"I think this belongs to you"The cold husky voice of the handsome stranger brought her out of her lala land as she stood up.

"Thanks"Hazel said but her voice came out as a whisper that she felt he didn't hear her, just as he gave her the blanket, his eyes stopped staring at the initials at the very edge of the blanket which made Hazel look at him suspiciously.

"Is that yours?''He asked, staring at her with disbelief, his hand still holding the blanket while Hazel could feel his tightened hold on it as she found it difficult to take it out of his hands.

Okay now she's fed up with this handsome creep!

"No,it's my sister's,I need to gooo"Hazel lied while emphasizing deeply with her words while the stranger looked at her not understanding her,but when he found her doe eyes looking at his hands at the edge of the blanket,he released his hold on it.

"I'm sorry,I was quite carried away ,I thought  i saw something familiar,if you don't mind what's your sister's name?"

His next question had Hazel wonder why her life these days were all filled up with creepy psychopaths, she turned around trying to find a nurse to ask if this handsome young looking man had  probably not escaped from the psychiatrist ward.

"I'm sorry if I'm making you uncomfortable, have a nice day"The stranger said when he noticed the look she was giving him,he decided to drop the questions for now with the hope he was going to meet her soon.

"Hazel what's with you and the strangers lately?"

Hazel thought as she left the hospital with the blanket and letter while she boarded a taxi home, she tried waving the encounter away from her mind  but she felt uneasy with the fact that a stranger would take interest in what belongs to her.

Who is he?

She looked at the initials on the blanket, clueless about what the initial meant, her hands itching to tear the envelope off and read the letter but after much hesitation, she stuffed It inside her bag.

To hell with finding her birth parents!
