CHAPTER TWELVE:It Is Time!

"Father"Ezekiel and Elijah Knights greeted as they bowed as sign of respect to their father who alighted from the car,every member of the family stood outside for the warm arrival of the chairman.

"It's good to be home once again!"William Knights exclaimed, taking in the fresh air of country Z which he had missed a lot.He turned towards his household who stood with smiles plastered all over their faces.

"Welcome home father"Avery told him as Sophia greeted too but was not quite as happy as everyone over the arrival of Grandpa.

"Where are my grandson's?"Grandpa asked not caring to look at his daughter in-law,Sophia, whose face he knew held much disgust for him no matter how much she tried to hide it,but he did not care as long as she doesn't overstep her boundaries he was good.

Grandpa walked into the large sitting room to find everywhere arranged and kept clean according to his liking.

"Grandpa"Nathan called out excitedly as he walked out from the stairs to hug him.

"Seriously son,you have grown so handsome the last i saw you"Grandpa said as Nathan smiled not excluding Elijah over the comment his father made over his son.

They had earlier arrived at the family house as the maiden prepared their quarters,because Grandpa did not condone the family living apart.

"You also do not look bad grandpa,"Nathan told him, earning a long laugh from the old man who sat down but his eyes were still searching for something or may I say someone,his favorite of all.

"Where's Zaiden?"

"I'm here grandpa"Zaiden said as his grandpa turned to see him already into the sitting room ,he walked up to grandpa and bowed towards the old man.

"Now you have been one stubborn  child"Grandpa told him ,it was obvious he heard the news about him being gay and his refusal to take up a girlfriend.

"Um.."Zaiden tried finding the appropriate words to calm him down at the moment,his father Ezekiel giving him a knowing look telling him he deserved it.

"Father.."Avery tried standing in for her son because she knew where the discussion was leading,she decided to talk to grandpa to  keep the conversation at bay not to get the old man worried about her son,and besides it was too early for him to bring the topic up.

"But that will be for later,come over here you naught child"the old man told him surprising the whole family, especially Elijah and Sophia who were excited 

waiting for him to bring up the topic about him or maybe reprimand him,but he was too lenient towards him and has always been,ever since he was a kid.

"Grandpa I'm not a child"Zaiden told him, not clearly liking the way his grandpa was calling him a child in front of everyone.

"You will always be a child to me son"Grandpa told him, smiling only to annoy Zaiden further while Nathan laughed at his  brother's expression.

"How was your trip father?"Sophia asked, diverting everyone's attention from Zaiden and father,she solely detest the way he pampered Zaiden not bothering to do the same to her son,Nathan.

"Well spent I can say"Grandpa told her as he stood up to stand in front of his two sons, Ezekiel and Elijah.

"You need to rest, father"Elijah said.

"Dinner will soon be served, father"Avery added,as the old man smiled and walked up to his room with his first son following him.

"And you need to prepare son"Avery told Zaiden, earning a scornful look from her sister-in-law who left them with her family.

"Prepare what mother?''Zaiden asked,staring at his mother confused over her behaviour suddenly.

"For dinner"Avery told him excitement visible in her tone,she just couldn't wait for tonight.

"Is there anything special about dinner?"Zaiden demanded further,he noticed the look on his mom's face as she pretended that everything was okay.

"I'm just trying to make you look you best,besides you know you have a competitor"Avery told him, caressing his hair ,as Zaiden understood what she meant .

"He's my brother and not a competitor mother and besides I don't think he's willing to work in the company,you know Nathan"

"The only constant thing in life is change son,you may think he's not interested but i  tell you,Sophia will stop at nothing to make sure her son has your inheritance"Avery told him sounding serious over the issue,her son has refused to believed the fact that his cousin and his family were one cunning existence.

"You know Grandpa will not go easy on you if he hears of this mother,you need to stop"Zaiden advised his mom,choosing to not think about the way his mom was talking about his uncle and family.He knew his aunt doesn't like him, but his mom was just overreacting.

"Will you for once Zaiden try to listen to your mom"Avery told him, getting angry at his attitude.

"You are just overreacting mom,there's no need to listen to you"Zaiden knew his mom was stubborn,but not to this extent.

"Zaiden"

"See you at dinner,"he told her ,leaving for his room.

"Zaid.."Avery called after him,but he ignored her,she touched her head already having a migraine already.Her son has proven to ignore her warning ,not taking her words serious,if he's going to continue been like this not,then it's going to be hard trying to set him up with the lady,what was going to be his reaction when she's going to introduce Hazel to him.

She gave out a deep breath,thinking deeply,she had given him enough time to choose his wife for himself,but he's has been wasting time,she knew her sister in-law too well,Sophia won't rest until she has her son placed on that seat but she's not going to give her a chance to do that,she can promise to that,Never!

"I've been lenient towards you son,but I'm sorry it's time i do things my own way"Avery whispered to herself,placing her phone to her ear calling her secretary.

"Paul"

"Yes ma'am"the young man answered.

"Send a car to pick up the young miss,it's time!".
