9 CHAPTER NINE: Meeting Mrs.Knights

The drive to the hotel for the meeting did not take much time,as Avery knights stepped down from the car ,with an elegance pose as everyone's attention was on her,the aura she carried around her whenever she is been spotted was one that did not  give people much thought to figure out that she  was a socialite.

Avery Knights ,that name  holds pressure

when  mentioned in any social gathering of the Elites,well being the wife of a multi billion dollar company was not an easy title.

Her loving and charming attitude despite being the wife of a billionaire was noticed by the entire citizen of country Z,her charismatic and love for the less privileged was so alarming that she built an orphanage and a charity organization to aid the citizens.Therefore making her an outstanding character among the socialite and the entire country at large,that her lifestyle was been used as an example to other socialites who would rather show off their wealth and use their money to the mockery of others.

Avery walked inside the hotel clutching her designer's bag ,with her bodyguard at her side,she was off to a gathering of the wives of the Elites.

The elevator dinged to indicate that she had arrived at her destination ,her bodyguard at her side as she walked into a hall full of wives of potential businessmen,when the Elites were aware of her presence they all stood to greet her,to indicate authority and power.

The crowd murmured probably few of the women who were jealous of her,the stares being thrown towards her was  that of pure hatred,Mrs.Knights was composed in her attitude choosing to ignore it,or may I say,she simply didn't care.

In the crowd,where all stood waiting for the command to sit,the hatred one had for the lady was evident with the way she was reacting to the attention being thrown in her way ,and that was nobody but Mrs.Sophia Knights,the sister in-law to Mrs.Knights.

Mrs.Knights smiled elegantly and gave a sign for them to sit as she sat at the head of the seat.She talked about business which was mainly the reason for the gathering ,after minutes of heated discussion,the hotel chef came in with few chef with troys of delicacies to entertain the duo by the order from Mrs.Knight.

"You should have seen the look on my son's face when he met the girl I paired him up with,he was totally in love with her at first sight"one of the women who was clearly on the opposition party against Mrs.Knight spoke up to the detriment of the young lady.

"Oh,not again"Mrs.Knight sighed as she glanced up to see a mischievous smirk plastered on Sophia's face,then it occurred to her that Sophia and her minions were up to making a mockery of her again.She pretended not to be bothered by the conversation by pressing her phone until a question was thrown in her direction .

"Um..Avery,I heard your son stood up the daughter of Monica,after you set him up with her?"Jane said with a hint of mockery in her tone as few people smiled.

"I guess he's not found the rightful woman for himself,so,it's best  i  leave him to take the decision by himself,after all,the company is still his anyway"Avery said attacking Sophia with her last words as few of the women laughed at Sophia whose expression was that of an angry pig.

"Two can play this game Sophia,"Avery whispered to herself, daring Sophia .

"Well,I wish your son would choose my Emily, she's so much obsessed with him"Amanda added as all the ladies laughed at her declaration not excluding Avery.

"Well,it's his decision to make,I can't say anything for Zaiden at the moment,I must commend Emily is such a cute lady for thinking of my son to be worthy of her"

After further discussion ,the meeting ended as all were leaving ,not forgetting to pass their pleasantries to Avery,who gave them gifts with beaming smiles.Avery boarded the elevator as it wanted to close but it stopped and opened as Sophia entered ,leaving the two alone.

"I appreciate the effort you did by disgracing me today Avery,that was so brave of you"Sophia told her with a smile,her facade hiding the bitter spite she had in her heart towards her sister in-law.

"You needed to be taught a lesson Sophia,you need to know your place"Avery said with a cool tone,Sophia was acting like a spoilt brat,well,what was she expecting from an only child who was pampered to the wits by her parents.

"Place you say?"Sophia muttered clenching her hand ,her nails digging into the flesh of her palms,she felt an urge to slap Avery at that very moment.

"See you at home"Avery left her when the elevator opened,her bodyguard opened the door to her car,as she sat down heading home to prepare for the arrival of her father in-law who was coming back tomorrow.

She sighed in tiredness over the act Sophia displayed at the meeting. She opened her bag to take something from her purse,but she could not find her purse. She searched again but in fruitless effort.

"Where did I misplace you?"she asked herself trying to recall where she took her purse,then she remembered coming out of the supermarket when she bumped into that young lady,oh boy!

She was frustrated because she knew that she had important things she valued  in that her purse,and she knew that young lady might have picked it up with no thought of returning it.Her family heirloom which was gifted to her by grandpa was there,and she knew Ezekiel would be very angry if he found out that she lost it,not excluding the credit cards that was in it.

She was still contemplating on her to go about it,when her phone rang,an unknown number.

"Avery Knights speaking,how can I help you?" She said to the other person on the line,she was surprised to find out that it was that young lady who picked up her purse."oh my God,I'm really grateful,I was seriously thinking on how to find you,okay,I will be there"

Avery cut the call in total amazement,she was stunned to the core to believe that good and honest people were still existing ,after seeing the content of what was inside that purse,no one,I mean who would ever mind returning it,who would think of doing that ,the fortune in that purse was enough to feed her generation to come.

She smiled in admiration towards the strange girl,she could not fathom what to say at the moment,she felt an uncontrollable urge to meet the girl who had captured her heart .

Hazel sat down sipping her coffee waiting for Mrs .Knights to return the purse to her,after further argument within herself whether to return it or not,she decided to  return it,she dialed the number she saw on her identity card,and gave her the location of the coffee shop.

"I'm so sorry to keep you waiting darling"Mrs.Knights apologized smiling up to the young lady.

"No,it's okay,its not been long I came here anyway"Hazel replied politely,she noticed the lady was so beautiful in person."Here it is"she passed it to her.

"Thanks a lot,what would I have done without you"Mrs.Knight appreciated her as she opened the purse and brought out the bracelet, clutching it to her heart"you won't believe what would have happened if I actually lost this,I'm really grateful"

"Thanks"Hazel felt it was time to go,since she had returned the purse to her,when the lady noticed her uncomfortable nature,she noticed that she wanted to leave.

"Can you spare me some minutes of your time please?"Mrs.Knight pleaded ,she has been observing the young lady since she came to notice that she was not like other girls that would have tried to demand something In exchange for returning the purse,making her more inquisitive towards her.

"Okay"

"Can I know your name ?"

"Uh…"Hazel was not comfortable about the way this conversation was going,she didn't know why someone like her would be interested to know her.

"No,I'm not  thinking of harming you darling,I just want to know you,I swear I wouldn't try anything bad towards you"Mrs.Knight had to swear to calm her down,this girl was something else.

"Hazel Christiana Blackwood ''Hazel finally told her after much hesitation to do so.

"Nice name,I must commend"

"Thanks"

"Your parents?"Mrs.Knights inquired further,but Hazel's face was something else,Avery noticed she might have brought up a sensitive topic."I'm sorry if I'm too forward,it's just that…"

"I'm an orphan,I don't have any parents"Hazel cut in .

"I'm so sorry dear"

"It's okay"Hazel smiled at her, covering her soiled mood.

"I would appreciate if you come over for dinner over at my place"

"I do not think that's necessary,I don't want to be a burden"

"No you are not a burden,I insist Hazel,tomorrow I will send my driver over to your place"Mrs.Knight said, brewing an idea in her head,which she's sure was going to succeed.

"You do not even know where I live"

"I will know soon,I have my ways and please do not forget by 6pm tomorrow"

"I won't"Hazel said to make Avery stop begging her further,she was surprised that she would take interest towards someone like her.

"Thanks a lot"Mrs.Knights said taking hazel's hand in hers stunning Hazel more and more.
