System

Leo watched the TV for a while before getting sick of the gory scenes he was witnessing. It was all live footage, and none of it was blurred out. He understood two things about all of this. One was that he had a naked girl on his shoulder, and the other was that he was basically screwed. 

Leo did not wish to die, so he could only try to make use of this system and try to live as long as he could. From all the reports he had seen so far, this was definitely a zombie apocalypse. Every station was saying those who turned were dead, and the footage that was shown also backed this up. He saw a few zombies that were cut in half with their entrails hanging out, still crawling across the ground, trying to chase people. 

"I need a shower!" Leo began to strip. Nora, who was sitting on his shoulder, flew off and stood in the air, staring at him. Her eyes swept across his body. She looked at every inch of his naked body before saying: "You do realize you have a girl in the room with you, right?"

"Hmm? You are a system that is naked to begin with. Why are you complaining? Didn't you just take a good look? Even now, you are looking!" Leo did not understand. He ignored the puffed-out cheeks of the small girl and went to the bathroom.

Nora stood in the air for a moment before snorting and flying into the bathroom as well.  She couldn't help but be a tad interested in this host of hers. From what she could tell, he took good care of himself. As a system, she was here to support her host. Every world that began its apocalypse got one system, and the person who got it would have a chance to overcome the odds and survive in the new world that they were destined to live in. She had been born from the overseers and was given the knowledge of this world, which allowed her to know the languages of this world and the habits of its people. This was why she acted the way she did. 

But this did not mean she was not curious. She wanted to know more about the mentality of her host. How they acted, what kind of character they had. She had to keep her host under close observation. This meant where he went, she went!

"Hey Nora, what exactly is this system?" Leo finally asked as he began to wash his body. He already saw the small girl sitting on the shower curtain rod. 

"The system is a means to help one overcome the odds and live through the apocalypse. It depends on the type of apocalypse as well. For you. You are going through a Class S apocalypse." Nora began to explain.

"Class S?" Leo asked curiously. He never thought an apocalypse would have classes.

"Mmmm… Apocalypses have different rankings. An apocalypse caused by a world war would be a Class C. One caused by an invasion from another world would be a Class B. One caused by a powerful figure born from the world would be a Class A. Yours is a Class S because it is a virus type that kills people and turns them undead. It is unstoppable, and no cure can be found easily. Unless you lay waste to all the lands, it is a virus that will never disappear. Only when the numbers of the undead have lowered would this apocalypse be over. If you are able to survive, you might be able to live in this new apocalyptic world." Nora explained.

"Then are there even worse apocalypses besides Class S?" Leo found all this very interesting.

"It's not a class but its own kind of apocalypse. They are called Enders. Enders are things no being on the planet will be able to live through, so no system is sent to them. Enders include the planet exploding, a massive asteroid impact, and the sun the planet is circling, turning into a black hole. There are many scenarios in which a planet would fall under the Ender category." Hearing this, Leo could only let out a sigh of relief that his planet stopped at Class S!

"Then what can my system do?" Leo asked as he stepped out of the shower and began to dry off. Once his shoulder was dry, Nora landed back on it and took a seat. 

"The system you have allows you to gain skills by doing things. Like you gained experience earlier in strength because you worked out. If you continued to do this, you would slowly gain more strength. But you can also boost this by killing zombies. Zombies have a chance to drop certain items that will help you survive in this world. But remember one thing. The system can only give you small boosts. Depending on the boost, you will get a backlash. And each boost only last for a certain duration. Also, once you get hit in a vital point, unless someone can save you, you will die." Nora explained.

"So if I got shot in the head or heart, I would die no matter how high my abilities were?" Leo asked to confirm.

"Exactly. It will not make you immortal. The system is designed to keep you alive, nothing more. How you progress is up to you."
