does anyone else feel that most of the works in webnovel are kinda done by morose 10 year olds handed a coloring book?

I'm liking the story, I just didn't think it made sense for him to "hide" his talent from Kurenai because as much as it may seem like a white lie, lies accumulate and end up ruining a relationship, mainly due to the fact that he couldn't move forward normally (things like him being able to do chakra control easily, he would have to lie or hide it because it would show that he is very talented, because if anyone saw it, this lie of the hand seals would be discovered), so by doing this you are handcuffing the mc and preventing him from using his full potential. I understand that you need to be careful with snakes like Orochimaru, Hiruzen and Danzo out there, but Kurenai is his family, he should at least be able to count on her and have at least a safe haven where he can train normally.
