Comments of chapter undefined of COTE: Light Yagami in The Classroom of The Elite

I wonder what Lights's ultimate goal is? In death note it was to make the world crime free. Here, it seems he wants to control over the first years..but why? if he wanted to be the top student, he could become more ruthless, not minding his image, and solely focus on promoting class C. But he is trying to rule the whole 1st year, so obviously a cutthroat attitude won't work. But why though? what does he get out of this? amusement? light isn't that kind of person, he does things with a solid conviction. Sence of empowerment? Although he likes the play god, he wouldn't do that wouldn't a proper reason. What are your thoughts? any ideas guys...?

I usually let new novels pile up chapters, so i can binge read them at a later date. Reading one chapter a day, often gives off a sence of discontinuity.
