(For those who are confused, Ray does not eat their soul literally. He only eats an aspect of it just like you wouldn't eat a whole chicken without removing the inedible part first. He only ‘savor’ the taste(emotions) but doing so will make them dull and lose some part of their soul that made up those emotions he savored. So, when Georg’s eyes went dull. Ray already savored his taste and the moment of the realization to him turning dull is fast because his willpower is weak. That's why Ray said his taste is short lived.)
