I don't know, this chapter was a bit messy, at some point it was unclear who is talking. Also, having someone else as the MC... I imagine that would change? Seems like a pointless change, sure slice of life or survival in Fallout 4 for the MC and his family but without a cheat (not that we know if he has one or not), this is a terrible hard world to survive in, and ensuring his family survives while going out to gain resources requires a cheat, its either one the author consciously created or plot armor. So taking a "realistic" take on things, seems... unrealistic. Not unless something bad happens every few chapters, it is statistically impossible for him or Sofia or anyone to go out into the world and not get crippled or die at some point over the next 40 years.
I will make it a bit of both cause I can't make the story where he is a cheat and falconpunch his way through a horde of behemoth while he is mounting a death claw as his morning jog... (even if that a great idea the deathclaw one like, In fallout 3) But I will make dramas too cause that what life is made of. But the story won't be as complex as a real writer could do so. Just to be clear I write the story as I imagine it. (sometime I dream it even what happen next)The things I will probably mess up is about real things like how to make a microwave, building a car, how a sikness behave, how radiation work or even about human relation cause Fallout Univers people are messed up in their head so I have to work to make something easy to swallow without me having to go to on internet to teach myself how a motor is made of and a bunch of other scientific things. If its hard to understand me its because my mind is a bit messy sorry. have a nice day.
ErozothDraeor:It depends on what your goal is, he will need to go out, he will need to get resources, all the time or he will need to be able to build things, water filters, protection, food. And like the game, you either capable of making everything: Metal alloys, glass, electronic circuitry for machines or he will need to go out to gather resources, this will always be this way. So, ask yourself, how will he survive against a small horde of ghouls? A behemoth? Super mutants? Can you write it realistically? That will mean a team, people getting injured, dying, etc. Or you are going for slice of life, family thing, like some of those cultivation novel: Restaurant in another world, etc. The only way to concentrate on the family aspect of the story is being powerful enough, otherwise he would need to work most of the day, like all humans do: Get food, get resources, build protections, maintain them, grow food. Family as main focus, with some quick adventures outside while family is safe=big cheat, family is part of the story but the main is survival, building, fallou4 quests=small cheat. At least that what I think.
