As someone who does not care for comic books, I found this Batman/Joker subplot to be very out-of-place and jarring, so much so that I skipped over most of it. I came for a largely anime-oriented crossover, and while I’ll hopefully get that after this chapter, I personally do not enjoy a comic subplot taking up such a large chunk of the introductory chapters. If you enjoy comics and writing comic crossovers/elementd, that’s fine, all the power to you. But I would caution against advertising the summary page to one main demographic (anime) and then dedicating the introductory chapters (the MOST important chapters in hooking readers imo) to a more comic oriented audience. Many readers will take one look at the first few paragraphs, or even just the chapter title and judge if a fanfic’s worthy of their time or not. I would imagine that some some readers noticed the usage of words like “Bruce Wayne, Joker, Batman,” etc to be a bit too frequent and immediately decided to dip out, even if you mentioned DC and Marvel elements in that reference list on the summary. In the end, it’s your story. You do you. But do note in the future that some readers will be a little frustrated at not seeing story elements that were promised on the front cover for too long.
