I have a theory about Lockhart (this theory has no basis or credence, I admit!) that in fact the original villain of the second year was supposed to be Lockhart (according to a plan by an evil and manipulative Dumbledore) to educate Harry by putting someone completely envious but with great influence against Harry's popularity, so it not only destroys any of Harry's vanity but also teaches him to fight and resist people with great influence in the population who can use public opinion against others (that is, instead of the second book being called "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" should have been called "Harry Potter and the Mind Thief!") but Lucius Malfoy "ruined" Dumbledore's plans! Thanks for the chapter!
Yes, if we analyze the level of danger that Harry was exposed to from the first to the last book, and it is possible to see that in each book the level of danger increases gradually, with the exception of the second book, see: 1st Book if I were to summarize it would be Harry facing an obstacle course designed for children to solve and facing a wizard who can't even touch him "danger level: Almost non-existent!" ________________ 3rd Book face a fugitive godfather who cannot and does not want to harm him because of the magical contracts that a magical godfather signs in addition to the feeling of love he has for the boy, add face a coward of a rat, the danger even in this book is the dementors or perhaps becoming infected with lycanthropy "danger level: Low!" ___________________ 4th book If there weren't the dragons (faced with supervision from Dumbledore and the ministry of magic) and the return of Voldermort (extremely weakened because of the recent resurrection and crazy with his mind not rationing correctly) this would be the most boring book of all books in the franchise, the "danger level: Medium!" (only because of dragons and Voldermort) _________________ 5th Book There's Dolores Umbritch who alone was a danger to all students and Voldermort's plan to recover the prophecy "danger level: High! __________________ 6th Book Dumbledore's death from this book onwards everything becomes more dangerous! ____________________ 7th Book things really get serious "danger level: Mortal! _____________________ Now remember the 2nd book, facing a XXXXX beast that can kill with a look, in addition to facing a 16-year-old dark wizard trying to revive without a wand, without the help of a powerful wizard, counting only on a sword and a Phoenix. "danger level: Very High" being completely disproportionate to the rest of the story.
krystian_garlicki:This is already more credible. The Philosopher's Stone, a lochart that erases the memories of others , but the subsequent parts don't really show this. Unless rowling has half given up on this idea .
In this case Dumbledore is stunting the growth of hundreds of young witches and wizards (1-4 years). yes it will expose Lockhart but it is doing a lot of damage as well, if lockhart got fired half way through his first semester it would look even worse for him and then the students can get a competent teacher, maybe have an auror come and teach the class DADA.
