Please allow me to step out of the realm of fantasy for a moment, because I just want to ridicule a statement that I found hilarious. I know it's a fantasy story, so I'll ignore it and continue reading, but I just want to have some fun. Ok? Don't take it too seriously. Qi and blood shooting up to the sky. Think about it. If blood was shooting up to the sky, it means you have a fountain of blood. Perhaps he has extremely high blood pressure and got an aneurysm somewhere, but then his skull would be in the way, causing increased intracranial pressure, squishing his brain and killing him, but the blood would not be able to shoot up to the sky. Perhaps his head got cut off, because that's the only way I can think that blood can shoot up to the sky. He'd have to be standing up of course, so the the blood can spray upwards otherwise it can't shoot to the sky. A shortcut could be to take a syringe of blood and squirt it skyward though... Anyway, in other words, MC is telling his new little disciple to cultivate and then kill himself. Hmm. Qi and blood don't have the same circulatory system according to TCM, but there are areas where certain points overlap. For qi to shoot up to the sky, you would certainly need a strong and robust body, otherwise when strong or plentiful qi is circulated through the body, it'd be like trying to pump water through subpar and leaky pipes. Eventually something somewhere would rupture. So I don't really have qualms with this part of the statement relating to qi. Qi (or internal force) can be projected outside the body as practitioners of super high levels of martial arts know. (This is real. Not fake. They might not have to even hit you with a fist or palm in order for the other side to receive fatal damage.) It's just the blood. The image of a fountain of blood shooting up to the sky and what the source of that fountain might be. Death by head loss? Death by blood loss? Hmm...
