Our MC is indifferent and pragmatic to the extreme. At the start of this new life I thought his regrets would change him, but I feel he's going to get worse? Also I don't feel he's evil, I think the MC felt it was less painful for the children to just die, as they've already been treated like objects being sold? Lastly, the reason why he's thought of as evil is just the old man's values and world views on morality?
