Itachi might not want to go rogue again, but it might be his best option. At this point, the only thing that's clear to Itachi is that there's some sort of conspiracy at work and, despite his previous test, no one can truly be ruled out. Everyone is suspect and he knows or at least suspects that whoever's behind this has taken some sort of an interest in him. Maybe he's thinking that an unexpected move like defecting could cause his opponent to make some sort of move or slips up in a way that leaves a trail Itachi can follow back to them.
Thanks for the chapter. I like how due to Itachis life experiences his first instinct / go to action is to go rogue whenever his leaders or generally higher ups in his organizatoon are compromised and deemed unfit or incapable. His trust of himself exceeds his trust on others regardless if they are more powerful or not.
