Maybe you are right or wrong. they are once a BESTIE which give her the privileged other don't have. and since have being reading the story she never has real feels for Steven, she just want to get into Steven family to secure her family future humiliation. even if Steven humiliated her we can still see he truly love and he even try to know, even all she ever did was pretending
