Thanks for the chapter. Great start so far, since he and the family are in some unknown cave. You can have him discover some unique plants/lost magic/martial tomes etc. These can help level up the farm quickly, thus helping him and the family a growth period before returning to Casa city.
I don't know about returning to their old place, call me paranoid but if they were used as disposable pieces by a black hand and said being becomes aware of the return of some supposed dead ants then maybe it would make sure that this time they would die for sure so to tie any possible loose ends
