Y'all authors don't ever get tired of these "the Dad is tough and feared, but is nothing compared angry Mom." archetypes? Like in every fantasy novel I see, in which both parents are alive, the dad always "scarred" of the mom. Why not just have 2 competent parents?

he's not “scared” of the mom. that's literally how all marriages are. it doesn't make any of them less competent. Fathers (husbands) are just trying to avoid being scolded by their wives, no man enjoys when they're wife yells. It happens in lots of marriages.
