I lost interest. He's disrespectful towards his lord Infront of said lord's father figure who is hand of the king. Then he demands Iron Island. Being just a lord of a kingdom it's impossible for him to get it even making big sacrifices. If he was lord paramount then it was possible. Then he is also making deal with wildings. Then he wants Stoney Shore. Also farming there secretly. If he wants that he has to fast make his land prosper greatly and more, then he has to make some big contributions for the north, give golds for said land. Then maybe he can wish to get it. Etc etc. Why not just develop his land first! Make it one of the best land there is!
Before making a stupid comment, go read the description of Bear Islands. It has nothing more than bears and mountains. There are forests, bears and that's it. Also, for his contribution, it is explained in early chapters that he fought for Baratheon Rebellion, led his soldiers to tough fights and even saved Robert Baratheon from being surrounded by enemies during rebellion. So his contribution is not small.
1. I think you changed the places of walrus tribe and antler tribe with each other and this made it very confusing to understand that part. 2. How can and will a follower of a deity or pantheon test that deity or pantheon? 3. I think the northerners, especially the wildlings just address their gods as gods. Only the followers of other god or gods like ironborn, andals, rhoynors might call those gods as "old gods". Most notably the andals and the newly converted seven worshippers first started using the terms old gods and new gods. They call the gods of first men as old gods and their own gods as new gods.
