Ah yes FF9, i remember over farming grand dragon there and breezing most of the main story. Also nice pick there. Zidane is the most safe pick and he's 3rd most powerful among the Final Fantasy mc. There's also luneth ff3 and he's top tier in terms of versatility.

Making him older isn't a benefit, its a shorter life. In his place I'd be rather unhappy having years tacked on needlessly. Zidane was able to be plenty strong without being that old. Even older than Cloud.
