That's the wrong way to go about it. Think of permanent abilities as perks which hopefully have lower costs and conditions. Let's take the ability to simply make something emit heat. Without vocal suggestions, you can activate your demon and make it a frost attack since they should believe it's a fire attack, adding more variety. What about passive water breathing, comes in clutch when you are disoriented and possibly drowning.
