romance spice things up but dont let the entire story involve around/majorly affected by their romance. In other words its okay if its often seen but not okay if it majorly affects the story

I don't get it. With time representing existence/eternity, to me, it looks like shifting from pausing his age to pausing his existence/body state should definitely be doable.
