Honestly still not happy with him stealing the crossbow, it just seemed unneeded, it also has potential to get him in trouble since it was clearly a gift of some sentimental value. As for the mark, it would make more sense to work with the leader dwarf, have him check his closest people personaly, then have them check others one by one. Being sneaky doesn't make sense.
