I respect Nathaniel for sticking to his current fiance. I value loyalty in a man, I really do. But the way he treated Emily here, without a single regard for how she may be feeling when she finally met him after waiting for him for years is unwarranted. When someone shows you who they are, believe them? Raylen is a prince - or maybe king - and he has an eye on you; he will look after and protect you. Why stick to someone who chases Dante's coattails when you can choose someone who is on par to him? At least one of those men has never treated you like dirt. I hope that 'Nate' is just as good with keeping his word as he is loyal, because the last thing I want is for him to start feeling jealous and possessive of Emily when she finally moves on.

Great stories invokes emotions for fictional characters. It's heart breaking to see such a benevolent character be treated harshly for something she/they can't control. It's a tragic story indeed. The fiancee of Nathan seem to be a great woman on her own right. It's sad to see Emily suffer with the possibility of never developing her gift, bc she is not bonded to her soulmate.
