a suggestion, to make mc's journey not so smoothly, try to make the world will intervene like speeding up the novel progression just like what happen with Su Chen 1)... but since nie xiong will be killed, highly likely. and news couldn’t reach protagonist's ear as written in the book, and hence the activation key was missing, the world will can intervene via technicality of written words and activate his protagonist through it (maybe another general unknown from the book, tasked to do the same thing or more logically, a secret code passed by nie xiong before he died) only this will be a hassle to write so just take the essence of it, that fang yu cannot be allowed another easy W or the future outcome will be too predictable 2)... on that note, you can also make him the protagonist during Fang Yu assassination plan, as half-way through is the prime moment, using (cliche protagonist power up, though done literally) without the need of a written trigger this unforeseen event will definitely let fang yu suffer a small set back he's missing from previous book, so he can further develop as a character and more caution while dealing with said protagonists protected by the world will
