I don't understand. Why take personal resentment and revenge on the empires level. Yes, he is maybe jealous/envious towards Dante, but he already ruined his life. He created almost the same situation that happened with the Duke, the father, to Dante. it's just that the child is not Dante's, and Isla didn't kill annalise and herself. But still in his family drama, there were 2 people he should blame - his mother and father. Dante was there even before dion's mother came to the picture. Dion's mother just got too greedy, and the Duchess, the mother, couldn't take it any longer. He knows Isla and Damien are innocent but still plans to kidnap Damien. Honestly, I have no pity towards Dion. He suffered, yeah, well, revenge if you must towards people who deserve your wrath. But Isla, Damien, and all innocent people in the Asterian and Assyrian empires have nothing to do with you. why should soldiers die because your mother got greedy and didn't love you?! why should they sacrifice their lives because Dante could move on and live his life(as how it looks to dion), but you couldn't?
