first you give him a solid background with a loving girlfriend then you suddenly go oh i didnt have much anyways, hope she is alright, now lets go marvel! imo you shouldve skipped that intro and gone straight for the insert. i dont think ive ever read a good intro before the insert, ever, even amongst the better SI stories

Have you thought about Alex reuniting with Janette. I can imagine a she being somehow reincarnated as a female symbiote. Maybe he would run into her into one of the other Earths. This would be a very interesting scenario. I’m wondering if a Symbiote could form a bond with another without devouring it.

I'm no fanatic of slimes, tho this first chapter is good. the MC should assimilate the ship to gain the techno takeover abilities similar to one of Ben 10 aliens or that weird marvel comics character from the eighties that seemed to be a teenage technology slime kid.
