While the idea is interesting. I think that if its you have a traitor on Mars then we can easily gain the propaganda victory against the current sky marshal. You can think of it like the situation of Naboo. When Naboo was blockaded and invaded the Republic sympathized with the people of Naboo and that sympathy led to Palpatine to be elected as the Supreme Chancellor of Naboo. Now if we have the traitor on Mars and when its revealed that the Sky Marshal herself betrayed the people of Mars and since our character practically owns all of the outer colonies AND half the of military you can clearly see that this will be a political disaster for the government. Riots will follow, the outter colonies and those who follow us will join against those who supported the previous Sky Marshal. The Federation cannot have such a crisis and it will be within that crisis we can have our main character become the Sky Marshal and subside all who oppose us. Sometimes it perks being the victim in War.
